M started preschool last year at almost 3, just two half days a week. There were some mornings when she would cry at drop off but once she got into the classroom, she was fine. She was fairly shy and quiet during the year but opened up a lot towards the end. I saw a huge change from beginning to end of the year.

My big girl started afternoon preschool at 2y10m (just three two hour sessions a week) and she loved it! We did 3-4 pre-visits where I stayed with her but hung back and I stayed for 10-15 minutes on her first day but she was totally fine with being there with out me!

How did their first day of preschool go?

My daughter is just past the cut off, so she's starting in two weeks at almost 4 years old. I think that extra year made a HUGE difference in her maturity and how emotional she is (and how she handles them).

That said, I'm still nervous!! It's only two days a week, 9-1. And I know she'll have fun. But I worry, because she's such a sensitive and emotional kid, that she'll be traumatized by my leaving her there. Hopefully an unfounded worry..but she's never been away from me/my family!
