@lawbee11: Poor baby! Stomach bugs are different from the flu. The flu is high fever, aches, and cough, I believe, and lasts over a week. But the stomach bug is vomiting and/or diarrhea with a fever and only lasts about 24 hours and are extremely contagious. I hope she feels better soon.

No flu but she does have fifth disease. I thought her cheeks were just red from it being so cold outside and I've wasted a lot of aquaphor over the last few days....gah!

@Emsmems: I made an appt for this afternoon. She seemed really off this morning and was really tired (she was ready for a nap by 10 when she usually doesn't nap til noon). So I'd rather be on the safe side and get her tested.

mine just got the stomach flu yesterday. The flu shot doesn't protect against stomach bugs. The advice I got was to ride it out and make sure she isn't showing signs of dehydration, small sips of electrolytes when she'll take them, and not to give anything for a lower fever because it's helping fighting the bug off. They said to bring her in if she's dehydrated or is vomiting for more than 24 hours. It settled overnight, and she's now taking fluids and ate some yogurt when she got up this morning. She's still sleepier than usual but no longer barfing. Oh and her symptoms are vomiting, diarreha and 101 fever.

A was just diagnosed with the flu on Thursday. She woke up early that morning with a 102 fever and was really stuffy, not taking bottles and inconsolable. She is now on tamaflu and Tylenol and doing a bit better. As much as I hate her ng tube I'm glad we have it right now so we can give her bottles thru the tube. She's also been sleeping a ton.

@lawbee11: L had a stomach virus with a fever. Unless it gets higher and she gets cold-like symptoms too, I'd think it's just a stomach bug.

LO was just diagnosed on Thursday. His symptoms were pretty much just a bad cough and high fever (103-104+). He has a history of wheezing so I was expecting a bronchitis diagnosis - the flu caught me totally off guard. His nose has started running a lot in the last day or so too. No vomiting but he hasn't really been eating so it's possible his stomach might be a little off.

I do know there are lots of stomach bugs going around, but if you think it could be the flu, I would definitely take her in. We waited too long and it was too late for him to get Tamiflu.

I would make an appointment and go in. If it is the flu, she can take Tamiflu to shorten it, but it usually needs to be started within 48 hours of symptoms starting! The flu is nasty this year, better be careful and be safe than sorry!!

What were his/her symptoms?

LO has been vomiting and has a 101 fever. I know the flu has been going around, so now I'm worried that's what she has. She got her flu shot but I know that's not a guarantee. Are stomach bugs usually accompanied by a fever? She's never had vomiting episodes before so not really sure what's going on...
