Back arching, obvious pain, and overeating. She also spit up sporadically, and never projectile vomited. Fighting nursing/ fighting the bottle, eating frequently but not large quantities, rarely falling asleep eating, arching back and being angry during and after feedings. Reflux does not need to = spitting up. My lo had Silent Reflux (gurgling or small spit up was common). The symptoms for us were arching and not wanting to eat and/or wanting to start eating, but then stopping because it hurt. She will be sleeping, be totally fine and wake up screaming, looking like she's in pain. She screams throughout the day but I think it's more from overtired. She won't nap lately unless it's in someone's arm. Or it's much later in the afternoon.<br /> About when her screaming escalated is also when she started spitting up more. More than M did but I'm not sure if I would classify it as projectile vomit either! </p> <p>Seems the only for sure sign is a red throat??</p> <p>I'll monitor for another day or so. She would twist her head, arch her back, cry, and her breath would be acidic. Spitup is another indicator, though not as reliable of one, since babies can reflux without spitup. A doc would check for throat redness, since reflux irritates the esophagus.
