I got to go home and play after school because my mom taught and she was home with us after school. I was talking to a coworker of mine who works an early schedule (5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and he was saying afterschool care just wasn't working for their family because kids don't usually do homework during it. I'm thinking about maybe changing my hours at work and coming in at 5:00 a.m. so that I can leave early and pick them up after school. Not sure if that's doable though. We may just do the YMCA after school care.</p> <p>My biggest concern with doing the after school care though is homework. Do kids generally do homework while in after school care? Through K or first grade I went to a babysitter after achool. DS always asks me if he can go, haha. I would say 75% of his class goes there. I didn't have to go to any care before school started, but I did go to after school care. </p> <p>After school, I went to the school gym and the YMCA hosted a program there for kids who's parents had to pick up later. I had mixed emotions attending there. The program was fine, but I always envied the kids who got to leave school when school was over. Early release was especially torturous because it just meant I was stuck in after school care that much longer that day. </p> <p>I'm hoping LO is happy with her after school care or that I work less hours by the time LO is in elementary school. </p> <p>What does your LO do before/after elementary school if you both work full time? </p>
