I get S up by 11:30am and he goes down at a 9am. The reason for that is I want him to nap when R does at 1:30pm :silly: If he is taking a long afternoon nap I allow him to sleep until 4pm.

We never limited naps unless the second was getting too late and would make bed time difficult.

Nope, I only woke up if it was getting to late in the evening, not in the morning.

Yes I wake her up if its longer than 1 hr and 30 minutes otherwise she takes long time for afternoon nap and mostly it is shorter and then I end up with miss cranky pants in the evening.

Lately I've been waking her after an hour in the morning because we are really struggling with afternoon naps, as in she mostly fights it to the death and ends up being awake like a weird 4.5-5 hour stretch. I think limiting the am nap helps a bit, but who knows really. Glad you got a nice break though!

DS is 14 months and went to 1 nap for a few weeks then is back to two naps because he's crazy active. We need to limit his morning nap to 1.5 hours because he will reject an afternoon nap otherwise. Yesterday he was up from the morning nap at 10:30 and while his nanny tried several times to get him down again he absolutely refused. I came home to a very tired baby at 7:30. This really reinforced the need for wakeups to try to get a second nap.

My kids aren't on 2 naps anymore, but when they were I never limited how long they were. I've never limited naps EVER.
My kids usually never napped longer than 60 minutes though, so it wasn't an issue. :-P

My thought is if they're still sleeping, they need the sleep.

@Mamasig: @coopsmama: They ended up sleeping 2 hr 40 minutes! They've never done that before, especially not both at the same time! I don't know what the rest of the day will be like but they are in GREAT moods now!

Yes, I do wake up M from her morning nap but only because I really need C and M to nap at the same time in the afternoon so I can get something done. I never let her nap past 10:30.

I never wake up for naps. I figure if they are sleeping longer, maybe they don't feel well or are going through a growth spurt. But mine generally don't nap that long!

@Mrs. High Heels: It's going pretty well! We're at 3-3.5 hrs from first wake up and usually 3.5-4 hrs after the nap wake up. This weekend Alice fought her morning naps and she actually did ok on one nap around 12:30, but it's so hard to let her do that when Blake isn't ready for it at all and their naps would be so staggered. They rarely nap this long either so I'm a little thrown off by it. I'm just letting it go and will play the afternoon by ear, I think.

@twodoghouse: how did pushing back that first nap go for them? I did limit to 1.5 hours - but honestly, they rarely took full two hour naps when they were on two naps.

Do you limit how long each nap is? My 10 month olds are taking a 2 hr morning nap. I have a feeling they won't want to nap long this afternoon as a result, but I hate waking them up early from a nap. Do you wake your LO from a nap if it goes on too long? At what point do you wake him/her up?
