@matador84: have you tried a dream feed around 9-10 at night? Might that help him get through to morning?

P just started STTN a few weeks ago (12 months old) but had been waking for months around 3.30/4. A dream feed at 10 sometimes had her sleeping through from 10-7 - bliss! I am not a morning person :)

Another option to CIO (not that I'm opposed to CIO) is to cut down the feeds progressively. Ie first night 10 mins, next night 8 mins, etc til you're down to no minutes, then *hopefully* he'll not wake or resettle very easily. That gradually shifts the calories he's getting at 4am to the breakfast feed.

@matador84: C would eat for a minute too, but she never ate very much and she wanted to play more than eat. Thats when we night weaned her.

@loveisstrange: I wait about 10-15, which is the length I wait to check nighttime sleep when I needed to. He usually does nurse for a while which makes me think he's hungry?

The early wake ups are killing me though!

Do you wait before getting him?

If you feel comfortable doing CIO, it is an option to get rid of a night waking. If he's not too interested in eating, he could legitimately be waking out of habit rather than real need.

Ds is 1 and has sttn for about the past month. He goes down at 7, but sleeps until 430-530. I get him, nurse him, and if I can put him back to sleep so I can get ready. Dh isn't here in the am.

Should I let him CIO? Getting him doesn't always work because sometimes he wants to stay awake. How can I get him to extend his sleep time? Putting him down later creates an overtired baby.
