@Foodnerd81: oh good, glad she had a nice long nap and good stretch of sleep. LO is almost 8 months old and even if he naps really close to bedtime, and sometimes past it (because he hardly naps at daycare and often falls asleep on the way home), it hasn't messed up his nighttime sleep.

Update: she ended up back down for the night at 12:30 and slept until 6:15. That's about as long of a stretch as she will usually ever have. Not bad kiddo.

@shopaholic: well she just went down now so we will see what happens. She sleeps in the master bedroom with me and Dh but if things don't go we'll tonight ill go sleep with her in her room since Dh had work tomorrow and I can sleep when she does if it comes to that.

At that age, I'd let it go too. But I still have this problem with my 6 month old! And when I let her sleep past/too close to her bedtime, it's really bitten me in the butt those couple of times! Wouldn't stay asleep through the night, multiple wakings, just an all-around confused baby. I've been told sleep begets sleep, but I think my kid didn't get that memo.

My LO is 13 weeks and we don't let her sleep past 6 for her 7:30/8 bedtime.

At 5 weeks, we just let her sleep and prayed for a decent night of rest!

And she's up. At pretty much the time she usually goes to sleep. Should be an interesting night!

At this age, I wouldnt worry about it.

Now, at 9.5 months, I let her sleep until 7, and then wake her and do dinner/bath/bottle/bed time at her regular time of 8.

We wake her up by 5:30, she's been going to bed at 8 lately and I don't want to give that up!!!! Back at 6 weeks I probably would've let her sleep :)

At that age, especially without a set bedtime, I'd let it go.

My LO is 13 months old now and has a bedtime so I'll wake him up if it's gotten late enough that it will interfere. (Although occasionally, if it's been a rough day I'll let him sleep a little longer and just push his bedtime back a bit).

Oh no...not at that age.
Once he has an established bedtime, maybe 14 weeks old? Then, i'd wake him up so that he would have 1.5h of awake time before his bedtime.
Now that he is older (almost 11m) , it doesn't matter when his nap is, he will still sleep at bedtime and through the night.

We don't have a set bedtime yet for C, 6 weeks old. But she fell asleep a little late- she fights naps like crazy- and now is still asleep 3.5 hours later at 8:45. No idea what going to bed tonight is going to be like now! But she needs sleep so I'm letting it go. Will I regret this?
