Quinn was 15 months old. I now realize it was because she doesn't like to take physical risks. She is very tentative to try new things (ie standing in one leg, hoping around etc) and I think that affected her walking.

She was 17 months! I'm not going to lie it was pretty worrisome but now she's running around like crazy even though she has only been walking about 9 months or so.

My daughter walked at 16 months. The 'normal' range goes until 17 months, so there's no need to even worry until 18. I'd be concerned about a child who seemed to have global physical delays, but if they're progressing towards it, no need to stress.

Mine did everything on the very latest end of normal (crawled at 12 months, walked at 16), and now at 3, she's the strongest, my physically capable child I know. 16, 17 months - this is still 'normal'. Totally.

My DD was 18 month when she finally walked unassisted. She didn't even stand on her own until she was 16 months. She just didn't have any interest is my guess...

14 months, 2 wks. He crawled at 7.5 months and pulled up and cruised at 9/10 and would walk holding one of our hands and with his walker and then showed no interest in walking on his own til 14.5! But he then just started walking and within a week was walking everywhere no crawling! He never once had a big spill either. I think he was just really cautious about it! He was running by 16 months and by that time you would have never known he walked later.

M took her first steps right around 15 months, but it took her another month or so to really walk and maybe even longer to stand unassisted. Now she's a fully mobile 2 year old!

I apparently didn't walk until 18 months and I walk pretty well too :silly:

18 months! Your situation sounds a lot like DD, it was just a confidence thing. She would walk with her walker and walk with us holding onto one of our fingers for a good 2 months before she did it on her own. The second she realized she wasnt toughing anything she would drop to the floor.

@lawbee11: yeah my mom was pretty convinced that she was the reason why LO started walking lol.

ETA: we really thought she would never walk...we were even going to PT (because she was a preemie) and doing all these extra exercises with her. And of course she just did it on her own timeline! Your LO will get there!

@Ginabean3: My mom would love if she walked the first time while she was here!

@Revel: I definitely think this has something to do with it. She's such a fast crawler that she can probably get to something faster by crawling than wobbling/attempting to walk.

LO took a few steps at 13.5 months but really wasn't into it, then basically started walking exclusively at 14.5 months with very little "practice." I bet your LO will be really stable when she walks. For us, I think she was such an efficient crawler she just wasn't motivated to try for a while.

Just shy of 15 months! It was crazy, she was too scared to try walking even a few steps, did not stand unassisted...would push her little walker around EVERYWHERE. Then one day my mom was over and she decided that she would walk for grandma! Never looked back after that!

15 months. She started crawling at 10.5 months and would stand unassisted by herself for MONTHS before she decided to walk. She could stand up from the floor without help, bend over and pick something up and stand back up, even pick up heavy objects while standing, all steady as could be, but had ZERO interest in walking.

After a couple days of walking a handful of steps at a time, she finally started walking more than crawling.

@lawbee11: 18 months and one week. He cruised along furniture starting around 14 months, but took another 4 months or so to walk independently. I was getting SUPER concerned, but now at 21 months, I can barely keep up with him!!

ETA: It was another month after walking independently that he was able to stand up without having to pull up or use something for balance.
