I voted yes although the 12 hour sleeping through probably wasn't until really late like almost 12 months.

LO sleeps 6:30 - 6:15 and gets a bottle just before bed time and this is what scares me most about weaning!!

@Adira: we do nurse before bed but Baby Brother has always only slept 11 hours at night. I think that's just his thing.

my baby only STTN 10-11 hours by 12 months--since it's close, though, i'll throw in my experience which was that we nursed within 30 minutes of bedtime.

My LO started STTN around 4 months. We stopped giving him a night time bottle around 10 or 11 months because he was eating solids. We only give milk at meals.

Yes, I always nurse him, hold him for 10 minutes, then put him down. He rarely falls asleep at the boob though unless he's extremely exhausted. I did the same with my daughter.

So, interestingly enough, DD only started STTN (12 hours) when we *stopped* feeding at bedtime. We tried to give her 20-30 minutes between nursing and starting her bedtime routine so that she would learn to disassociate nursing and falling asleep - only once we moved her last feed up about 30 minutes was she able to go back to sleep in the MOTN without nursing.

Well she nursed before bed until around 10 months at which point she started refusing it and I stopped offering. She sleeps 11-12 hours sometimes even 10 but always with no nightwakings. I think some babies just don't do 12 hrs to be honest.

@Adira: YES, My LO still needs to feel that super full, "milk drunk" state as he drifts off to bed. Also, he gets so tired at dinner that he barely eats, so giving milk at bedtime (usually he drinks it as he lays down and let's me change his diaper and out his PJs on), is the only way to ensure he gets all his nutrients.

Eta: he sttn 12h at about 12w old consistently.

Same as @Smurfette: We have nursed (and now given bottle) right at bedtime since birth. D is 14 months. He rarely actually sleeps 12 hours, but he certainly can do it. I think he just doesn't need 12 hours on a regular basis.

@Adira: Whoops, I read your thread title wrong! LO 2 doesn't sleep 12 hours consistently yet....maybe only 1-2 a week. She usually sleeps 11 hours.

LO 1 was sleeping 12 hours and she usually nursed or drank a bottle before bedtime!

@autumnlove: I'm curious if this is the reason Xander doesn't usually sleep 12 hours. He'll go 11 usually, but very rarely 12. But we don't nurse/give milk before bed. He usually has dinner about an hour (or an 1.5 hours) before bed!

Ya, usually within 30 minutes of going to bed. LO 2 is almost 11 months and she doesn't always want to nurse before bedtime...depends on her solid intake at dinner.
