They would allow me to bring in food for him if there was an allergy or dietary issue, but otherwise they really don't allow outside food. I'm overall happy with their meal choices, though (lots of whole wheat, fruits, veggies and lean proteins) so it doesn't bother me. We briefly looked at one place that served Pop Tarts for breakfast twice a week, and then on random days the snack would just be water and cucumber slices. The one that provides food makes a hot lunch from scratch that is at least as healthy as what I have been packing for LO. She even made special egg and dairy free food for LO. I don't think that's the norm and it's a big selling point for me at this daycare. Plus it's $200 less per month than the place where we had to pack food. It makes things SOOOO much easier for me. I pack my son a morning snack every day that he can munches on between breakfast and lunch but it's super quick and easy to pack. When she first starts solids, we will bring her food but she'll gradually transition to daycare's food over the next few months. I'm fine with the menu (assuming LO doesn't end up with any food intolerances or allergies) and it's one less thing to worry about. But the food thing wasn't a make-or-break issue for us, as long as they don't serve crap.
