We are having the same problem. We just installed ceiling fans in both rooms. I closed their doors while they are falling asleep, so that I don't wake them while I am doing dishes etc. Then I open their doors right before I go to bed.

Could you put up a gate so you can still leave the door open but keep them in their room?

We don't have a/c at all, but luckily it usually cools down by evening. I leave doors and windows open to get cross ventilation.

It hasn't gotten too hot yet here at night, so for now I leave the doors open during the day with the a/c /purifier on or windows open, and close them at night. I remember last summer it was really tough though, so I guess we shall see!

I also have light blocking curtains that I keep closed (just in her room) and a ceiling fan. Our apartment was supposed to have central air, turns out we happened to get the only unit without it. We did get a large closet in exchange...

We have AC upstairs but not in J's room, we have a window fan in reverse that pulls the air from the AC through and leave the door open.

We lease our townhouse and our place is tiny, especially the upstairs.

They do have a/c but its still hot upstairs so in the summer I do leave their doors open.

However, they also have a noise machine in their room, ceiling fan is on and I use a box fan in the hallway (their rooms are across from each other)

do you leave their door open at night?

Lately I've been waiting until my kids are asleep, and then opening their doors so that they can get some cool air from the a/c. Otherwise the rooms get pretty hot, and the kids are likely to wake up sweating!

Problem is that when the doors are open, the kids are much more likely to wake up in the middle of the night and then wander over to where I'm sleeping. Not sure how to fix that one, other than with a fan.

If your LO's bedroom doesn't have air conditioning, how do you keep them cool at night?
