I told her I wanted to pay half of the ticket ; she said she wasn't comfortable with that because it was her mistake. I told her I understood, but under the circumstances I wanted to pay half, and it was a one time offer. I also said that she should let me know what happens, and that I would like to cover at least half of the ticket. She immediately said absolutely not, it's her fault, and she'd would pay it. I said well, please keep me in the loop as to what happens and we can discuss it more once she knows if she is on the hook. I also told her if it was a speeding ticket or accident I wouldn't offer to pay, but just under the circumstances I feel like offering to pay half is fair. The one exception was that technically you could only park on their street for two hours but it was never ever enforced. Then a new cop was hired and I got not one but two tickets parking there. The father paid them and I saw the cop trying to give me a third ticket and ran out to explain/ask for a suggestion on a better plan. Thankfully his response was, oh I just won't give you a ticket then.
