Always feed, wait five minutes for poop, if nothing, change if wet which wakes baby up enough to eat more, then swaddle and feed on the other side. The first night home I tried laying her back in bed when she fell asleep on first boob and she woke up every hour until I remembered the routine.

i checked for poop, then feed. i would pray that it wasn't poop because i didn't want to unswaddle, undress, change diaper, and go in reverse. not fun.

My midwife gave me the advice to not feed if not 2h had passed from the beginning of last feed. That worked beautifully for us. Most wake-ups it was a diaper change and then feed though...

Diaper and then feed. Once he got older I would do a smell test to determine whether I had to change for poop and then feed.

I check his diaper first cause he's been poopy at every wake up. Once I'm done changing he eats and gets drowsy while nursing.

Change diaper, then feed. He always has a poopy/wet diaper between feeds so I like to get it off him. Not sure if he can tell the difference though! Feeding always gets him back to sleep.

Is she actually waking up? I realized L cries out sometimes in his REM sleep, but he's actually sleeping. Sometimes grabbing him would actually wake him up before he was ready. Now I wait to hear if it's an actual cry or one of his sleep cries (or see if he cries a second time).

ETA: he was waking up what seemed like every 30-45 minutes before I realized I was actually waking him...now we get up every 2-2.5 hours to eat. He stopped crying out after the 30 minute window recently.
