My parents are older (64 and 82), but that didn't factor into my reason to have kids earlier. They take more of a back seat approach to being grandparents and don't make much an effort to be part of LO's life.

My parents were 38 when I was born, and my mom passed away at an early age (51). It hasn't affected my timeline personally but my dad and I aren't very close and he hasn't been an involved grandparent with my siblings children since my mom passed. He's 65 and I still haven't had my first child, I just know that my DH's parents will be very involved and have to make up the slack on my side of the family.

My parents' ages weren't a factor in my calculus... But they had me very young and I plan for them to be around with the girls for a very long time.

My timeline went out the window when I didn't meet "the one" until I was in my late twenties (and of course we had to date, move in together, buy a house, get married etc). My decision to have a child was based solely on whether we were ready, not on my parents' age. However, I will say that my dad being very sick with cancer did give me the push I needed to think about starting our family - you realise how short life really is and that there's no point putting things off. We lost my dad 2 months into TTC and I am really sad that E will never meet him.

Both DH and my parents are older and it definitely put the pressure on. We took over a year to conceive our first and during that time both of our dads had serious health problems. I remember thinking during that time that I really wished we were pregnant so I knew they could meet them. Luckily both are doing well now and in two and a half months they will meet LO!

My dad died when I was 27 and my sister was 20. I want to have more time with our kids than he did/I want our kids to have more time with us than I did with my dad. I also want our kids to have time with my mom and DH's parents. I won't say it really changed our timeline per se, but it definitely changed my mindset. My dad wasn't old when he passed away, so it's a reminder to make the most of the time you have.

My parents are younger...and at first it did affect what I thought my timeline should be.

My timeline went out the window a long time ago, so now I'm just gonna let things lay out as they do!

My parents aren't older but DH's are.... Them being part of the kiddos life was always very important to me & played a part in my timeline!

Did that affect your baby timeline?? After a recent health scare/event of my Dad's I'm feeling so uneasy. My parents are older (I was a mistake with 2 older siblings 10 years apart :) )and it pains me to think of DS not remembering them - it was a huge part of why we started younger.
