9 months and still have pain from pregnancy and birth. I need to see a doc or chiro. I just haven't made time for it.

@Little Misters Mom: My LO caused me a lot of problems with my hips and tailbone. It got worse until I started seeing a chiropractor. It is much, much better and helped so much!

@meredithNYC: Thanks. My hope is that there is just an adjustment period, but think carrying around a 18 pound kid all day is probably a large part of the issue.

@blackbird: I saw a PT while pregnant and it did help. I was hoping this was a "ignore it and it'll go away" thing but I think you're right. My issues are also about my muscles not being able to stabilize a wonky pelvis so I think I need to work on both alignment and muscle tone. Blah, maybe this will motivate me to get back in the gym.

@edelweiss: @Rockies11: @wonderstruck: I think you guys are right. At 5 months, it sounds like time to call a doctor.

@rachiecakes: That sounds horrible, I'm so sorry. I don't think my stuff is related to delivery, just things got out of wack carrying a baby in utero and haven't exactly popped back into place. Is there anything they can do for you?

No, but mine is nerve damage from my episiotomy. Three years later and I still have weird nervy things from my pelvis to my feet.

That sounds pretty extreme, I'd try to get some help for it - have you talked to your doctor or a chiropractor or anyone like that? Maybe even a massage or physical therapist?

Mine didn't go away until I started a gentle postpartum fitness rountine with a trainer. It took about 6 weeks after that to get back to normal!

i'm sorry that sounds really painful. at 5 months out and with that severity of pain, i would call the doctor just to get some peace of mind. my friend continued to have really bad gas pains postpartum and thought it was her body getting back to normal, but turns out she needed her gallbladder removed. that is not meant to freak you out (great i just freaked you out didn't i) as it sounds like the pregnancy strongly affected your pelvic region so it is probably your body getting back to normal, but it might be good to hear from a professional as to whether this falls on the usual spectrum.

about 6 months or so...they honstly didn't get better until I saw a physical therapist for a crooked pelvis and i started to lift weights to stabilize all those muscles and loosened ligaments and tendons. strong muscle=holds things in place more

Not sure if it's getting worse but i'm staying on track of weight training a little better and going to be more conscious of what i have to do to get back. I had to wear an SI belt for awhile to stabilize my hips while i worked out, which helped a TON

It took me a while to recover from all the aches and pains - probably a couple of months? And my back was in pain for most of the first year just from all the carrying of an infant

I am now 17 weeks pregnant with my second and generally I feel better during this pregnancy (aside from the usual first trimester yuckiness), but it's still early. I did get in pretty good shape after my first pregnancy and am working out again, so I'm hoping that will help. With my first pregnancy I was pretty inactive the whole time and I can't help but wonder whether that made things harder on my body.

Did they ever go away? I had terrible hip and pelvic pain when I was pregnant; there were days I couldn't move. 5 months pp, I don't have that level of pain, but my right hip aches bad enough at night to wake me up. It's mostly bad in bed, even though I don't sleep on my side the way I did while pregnant.

Was there some magic amount of time when your body when back to feeling normal? Did it get worse with subsequent pregnancies?
