It would depend on the kind of crying. If it is more fussing crying I leave him and half the time he will fall asleep. If it is hysterical crying for more than 30 mins then i rescue If its during his first nap I just wait until his second nap to put him down again. If its his second nap then I just wait until bed time to put him down again.

I still put him/keep him in his crib and will let him fuss/cry/play for 45 minutes before getting him. As long as he isn't doing his painful cry, I leave him. Sometimes he just ends up playing. But I do want to establish a "quiet time" every day even if there is no nap.

I'll put her in her crib and it depends on her level of crying. If she's REALLY crying, then I'll rescue her after about 20 minutes and call it quits. But if she's fussing around, I'll leave her to sort it out. 50% of the time she'll fall asleep but only for about 20 minutes (after more than 30 minutes of fussing).

Olive goes into her crib awake for bedtimes and naps and puts herself to sleep. But she got off track somehow the past couple of days, maybe with the holidays. Today she was fighting her afternoon nap and since it was late, I just had her skip her nap and I gave her an early bedtime. I could get her down by rocking her or nursing her, but I knew it would be easier in the long run not to do that. We don't have a car and she doesn't stroller nap, so that isn't an option (what we used to with Charlie).

What do you do when you LO won't go down for a nap?
