Oh my goodness, this thread terrifies me that I won't get consistent sleep for a few more YEARS... wahh! The idea of sleep training in a month or 2 and hopefully getting more sleep is the only thing that's keeping me going right now!

@Cherrybee: My husband deals with it, and it's usually not a huge deal. For a while it was needing to use the restroom, now it's that she's kicked the covers off. He's a night owl anyway, so it's not really a problem for us.

I like this thread for the fact of knowing we aren't alone in the horrible sleep. I feel like all I ever hear about it good sleeping babies and it is hard when people ask me about our sleep.

DS is 21 months and just in the last month has started to STTN, after he weaned himself. It isn't every night though but it is getting more consistent. Now we are facing a lot of 4:30am wake ups, although we can usually get him back to sleep if we give him some milk and lay on the couch with him.

@Cherrybee: ugh. We kept him up a little later last night to try to start moving it back to normal times and he still woke up at 4:30. His doctor had recommended last time that we use benadryl if we know he needs to sleep but is having trouble falling asleep...so we gave him a dose this am and laid with him for a bit. He went back to sleep until 7:45! He has NEVER slept until 7:45! Fingers crossed we can get him back on track....I can only imagine what throwing a newborn into the mix in a few weeks is going to do.

Hang in there momma :( If you are at the end of your rope maybe talk with your ped. He had some great suggestions (and confirmed that I had literally tried EVERYTHING, which made me feel better haha)

@Cherrybee: well, mm will be 15 months this month and HAD been sleeping through the night until her molars started cutting through. Right now the only way she is sleeping through the night is by sleeping with us. Break is over this week, so I'm hoping we can get her back on her regular schedule.

I'm relieved it's not just our house. My recently turned 12 month old sleep went to crap the past few weeks. Back to 2 night awakenings and having to co-sleep kind of crap. I'm glad to hear it gets better at some point!

@Cherrybee: our babies are the same age and my LO hasn't slept through the night since last summer, not even once.

She also started fighting naps and bed time, which sucks because her issue was staying asleep--before falling asleep was easy.

We are still traveling over the holidays, but when we are home I'm going to be doing CIO AGAIN, for like the 5th time. I'm pregnant and nauseous and need to get her sleep back on track. Right now at Grandmas house, my mom gets her when she wakes up at night, but at home we are all going to be on for a major reality check.

@Cherrybee: my lo still isn't sleep through all the time but I figured out we sort of had a chicken or the egg problem. I think she was waking up to see me and I kept going in because I thought she *could* be hungry so what we decided on was making night wakings extremely low reward. We just point out her sippy of water and say its time for bed E. This has been going surprisingly well. She's decided with no cuddles or milk waking up isn't really worth it. But also babies are maniacs so what worked today probably won't work tomorrow. I'm hoping we can all get more sleep soon!

Im reviving this thread because it is 2 months later and E still doesn't STTN. She was up twice last night - 11pm and 3am. The 3am wake up was brutal because despite my best efforts it lasted an hour and 20 minutes. She was up for the day at 6.50.

Reading through this thread has given me hope again because it does sound as though 18 months is the magic number. She will be 18 months in 3 weeks!

@Mrs. Lion: I think teething might be our issue too. She has been teething solidly from 2.5 months pretty much and it really bothers her; shes not one of those kids who breezes through it! Unfortunately we still have 4 canines and 4 second year molars to get through.

I'm tired!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if it gives you hope or not ... But we night weaned and sleep trained at 18 months and by 19 months she was sleeping through the night most nights. We still have a rough night once in a while but it's 1000% better than before. When her sleep was really bad I kept repeating to myself that it wouldn't last forever ...

I voted not yet because he goes through phases where he will most nights and then just stop. He is alnost 25 months. We never sleep trained and co slept until around 20 months. He used to just wake up to come in our bed. He started waking less when we got him in a bed rather than the crib.

At around 15 months, but then she started daycare a month later and we had a set back. But that passed quickly, and by 17 months it was consistent again. She is almost 18 months now and I don't remember the last time she was up in the MOTN.
