This is how its always been since I was a kid. But there was no other way with the way the drain pipes or something was set up (the install guy said). And our "laundry room" is technically just big enough for the two machines and is in between 2 doors (for the garage and then into the house). I wasn't home when they were delivered and DH told the delivery guys it didn't matter how they were set up...currently the washer is on the right and the dryer is on the left. I told him he needs to flip them! :-) </p>
