Not early, but my water broke at 39+4 with LO1, but contractions still hadn't started 6 hours later and they induced. With LO2, my water broke at 40+5 and she was born 3 hours later.

Broke on its own at 38 weeks with first. For my second I woke up to contractions and had them for 19 hours. My water bag broke when I was dilated to a 7 and kept breaking. Like new pockets would burst. It was bizarre.

water broke at 40 weeks exactly with LO1. it was a trickle, contractions started immediately after, delivered a little less than 3 hours later.

LO contractions first, water broke movie-style, HUGE pop/gush water everywhere, delivered less than an hour later.

This happened to me at 37 wks with #1; I ended up having to be induced. #2 was born at 38 wks but I went into labor on my own, and had my water broken by the doctor in the delivery room. My second delivery was fast and furious - about 4 hours total from the first contractions to a baby in my arms.

With #2 my contractions started first ( around 2pm) they broke my water around 7cm and she was born about 30 mins later. (3.5 hour total labour.)

interested in this as i also had PROM, and a very quick labor once contractions started, so wondering how that will play out without PROM!

For my first my water broke at 37w5d on its own. For my second I had contractions first at 38 weeks and the doctors broke my water a couple hours later around 7cm since I was in active labor.

I am following to see the replies - I had PROM with #1 (at 40 weeks but diddly squat else happened within 48 hours so I had to be induced), would love to know if it usually ends up happening again.

With my son, my water broke pre-labor with no indication anything was going to happen at 35w3d. With my daughter my water broke pre-labor at 36w2d, but I had a feeling that labor was going to happen soon because 1. It happened early for me already 2. I was super swollen like I was right before I had my son and 3. I lost my mucous plug and had my bloody show earlier in the week.

My mom had all three of her kids early too, and her water broke before labor, so it seems to run in the family.
There was no reason, it seems, that I had my babies early, my doctor says that some people just grow babies faster than others haha.
