1. Water broke just before 37 wks but consistent contractions didn't continue; I was induced about 12 hours after my water broke. Baby was born about 5 hours after that.

2. Water didn't break, I went into labor at 39 weeks about 6 hours after a membrane sweep. Baby was born about 3 hours after I felt that first contraction - maybe 20 minutes after the doctor broke my water upon arrival in the hospital.

Water broke spontaneously first for both!
LO1 was 39+4 and constructions started on their own and fast about 2 hours later.
LO2 was 37+2 and I had an enema about 4 hours after my water broke. It worked really fast, contractions started within half an hour of the enema, and baby girl was born just 45min later!

My water broke (with a small but constant trickle) with my first just as I was going into labour.

My water broke with my second with a small pop during contractions when I was about 6 cms, but she was so low down that it mostly came in a giant wave as she came out!

I'm hoping to hear most people say yes!! My water broke with my first, and I hope it does again. It did take me about 9 hours for contractions to start - they were almost going to induce. I loved KNOWING to go to the hospital though, and KNOWING that my baby was going to be born within 24 hours (instead of the possibility of laboring for 3 days :meh: )

My water broke at 38w6d, contractions didn't start overnight and I had to be induced. I really hated being induced and felt like I didn't get to "ease into" labour, it was full on from the beginning!

I'm hoping with future #2, contractions start first.

What was your experience?
