I would add yellow as I love the grey, blue, yellow combo's I've seen around. Not sure what or where though--maybe cushions or a rug or candles or something.

@Foodnerd81: To get that fun pop of color without painting, use fabric and pushpins. We did this for our daughter's nursery area. We couldn't paint since we rent, so we bought some blue fabric and pinned it up. It works well, and if it gets dirty, or we get tired of it, it's easy to remove. Plus, it's cheaper than a good quality paint. 2 yards of fabric would probably cover what you need.

Oh West Elm has these sheets in 'bergamot': http://www.westelm.com/products/organic-cotton-frayed-edge-sheet-set-bergamot-b1231/?pkey=cbedding-bath-sale&cm_src=bedding-bath-sale||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_--_-

which would be a nice pop. (Not that we have to do West Elm again, just still on their site). I'll suggest that to DH and see if it's too close to pink for him. He likes orange but more like a dark orange which wouldn't work with the room I don't think.

I'd go with a throw blanket instead of colored sheets.

I really like coral (just about to write that!) or even a tangerine and it would definitely brighten it up.

I'll try and find some links when i have a few minutes!

@mrs. wagon: I'm totally a purple person, but DH isn't so much. I bought some dark purple sheets and they blended too much with the headboard. I have been thinking maybe a deep blue blanket, not navy, but kind of dark for contrast.

@loveisstrange: I should have added we do have a colorful painting behind the bed, so it's not totally dull. It has lots of colors in it actually, but none stick out as the way to go for sheets or contrast.

@loveisstrange: this totally reminds me of baby @shopaholic: 's nursery!!

I second the coral, or maybe stay monochromatic with the walls with a deep or bright teal or aqua? That was my first thought. Or, I'm not a purple person, but maybe a deep purple.

Ughhhhh, I feel you on the beige walls in a rental. We're in the same boat.

What about hanging a big piece of colorful art behind the bed instead, or even 2 on either side?

@loveisstrange: We are renting, so we can't paint the walls, should have specified.

And it took us a year to decide on a new rug for our living room, plus 6 months to decide on a duvet that we still aren't thrilled with, so I'm afraid of trying to pick yet another rug!!

That said, the coral look surprisingly nice with those colors, so that's an idea.

Why not do a pop of color on the wall behind the bed and a really graphic rug?

This is absolutely a first world problem, but I know some people on here have a better eye for this kind of stuff than I do, so if you feel like looking, I could use some advice.

We finally got a new duvet that DH and I both like, but we aren't in love with the way it looks in our room. We got this duvet from West Elm for Christmas: http://bit.ly/1lPwAwx

It's a light, cool, gray and white. Our walls are a light blue, almost sky blue but a bit lighter. Headboard and other furniture are dark wood.

We feel like the duvet and walls are too close in tone and too cool, so I'd like to add in something to either warm it up a little or just to add a little pop. Any advice? I was thinking colored sheets or throw blanket (we aren't really into extra throw pillows on the bed since they end up on the floor, which would turn them into dog beds!). What color do you think would add some warmth and pop?
