@oliviaoblivia: You're absolutely correct I think. The one year gap is easier than two (although I've only been doing the two year gap for 5 weeks now).

My first two were a year apart and my second and third are 25 months apart. We did the longer gap mostly so that my body would have some time to recover.

Honestly, I think there are pros and cons to any gap. :) If and when we have another we won't be able to TTC until mid-2018 so there will be a 2.5 year+ gap between number 3 and the next one.

@knittylady: I've thought about this a little, even thought we are 99% done with 2. But we've discussed adoption as a possibility for a 3rd. Obviously with adoption, you can't really control the time factor or the age gap, but it's likely that there would be a 2 year gap between our first two and then a longer gap, like maybe 3 years before the last one.

The biggest downside I can think of is that the oldest will be on no naps and the second might be dropping a nap. So then, we'd truly never have a break from all 3 kids at once. But a pro is that I think the older girls will be easier and more helpful, since they would be 5 and 3.

It's interesting--we didn't have a hard transition from 1-2, so I'm sure there are a lot of ways it could go worse.

Yeah it's funny - I feel like I blacked out for the first 18 months of having two but looking back - 2 double naps a day, no jealousy from the oldest (he was too young!), no terrible twos or threenager to deal with... it starts to seem like we had it easy!

My first 2 are 19 months apart. If we decide on a third I'm hoping for a 3 year gap between #2 and #3. In some ways that sounds scarier and some ways easier. There are pros and cons to everything!

Not my first two, but my second and third are 12 months apart. We're hoping to add a fourth that's about two years younger than our third.

I actually found the one year gap easier than the two year gap between my first two. To be honest I'd totally do the one year again if my body were up to bring pregnant again but for my health we're waiting. The three years between our first and third was pretty good. She was helpful in the early days and is so loving towards the baby.

My boys are 15 months apart. It was totally bananas. My youngest just turned two this month and the baby fever has struck hard! At this point there will be about a three year age gap between #2 and #3 if we TTC soon.

I have no idea what that will be like! Like I feel like in a lot of ways it will be harder!

If you're first two kids were very close in age (like 18 months and under) when did you have your third/plan on having your third?
