He usually only sleeps 1.5 hours, so if it's less I move up bedtime bc then he's really not getting enough sleep.

@mrsjyw: what an amazing night sleeper!! :D :D I guess he just gets enough nighttime sleep and doesn't need the extended nap :) good for him!

LO#2 is already 8 months and still in our room because he can't quite make the 12 hour sttn.... and I'm not willing to sacrifice #1's sleep, even if it's only 30 min! :) (they will share a room, soon I hope!)

@tysonja: he sleeps 7/730-8. he usually does better with a longer wake time before bedtime than he does in the morning!

what time does he wake in the morning/sleep at night? :) maybe a later nap time will help him sleep longer cause he'll be more tired out?

our LO is on one nap as well and his night sleep is 7-7. I find that he takes a longer nap if I put him down around 1 or 1:15! he'll sometimes sleep till 4, but usually between 3 and 3:30.

but to answer your question, if he wakes early I leave him in there unless he is whining a lot or crying. :)

I move it up sometimes. DD's bedtime is at 7:30 but if she had a crap nap day we'll move it to 7.

she usually takes a 2-3 hour nap and we keep bedtime the same whether it's 2 or 3 hours. if it was drastically shorter (1 hour and she was crying uncontrollably or something) then i would move up bedtime.

if i see him sit up on the monitor but not make any noise, we wait it out and he usually goes back down. if he was crying, i would go in, but that hasn't happened. i think his shortest nap since switching to one was 1 hour and 40 mins.

If he's not sobbing uncontrollably, we wait it out and 9/10 he goes back to sleep. If he doesn't then bedtime MIGHT be moved up SLIGHTLY if he's uber cranky. {Like 30 minutes earlier.}

It depends on how she's doing with less sleep. Sometimes she's still super happy, so we keep a normal bedtime. Sometimes we end up holding her in her room while she sleeps longer.

Do you move up bedtime? Do you wait it out and see if they sleep longer?

DS usually sleeps from 12-2...but some days he'll sleep 1 hour - 1.5 hours.

We try to wait it out at least 10 minutes, but if he is standing/sitting up for a good five minutes and starts whining, we just end the nap.

We'll try to move up bedtime a lil bit and keep him up instead of another cat nap later in the day.
