@mediagirl: thank you! Our daughters sound similar. How long have you been doing OT? Have you noticed any improvement? Your suggestions are great. I've started letting her jump on her bed before or after dressing and am probably going to buy a small trampoline too.

@BeachMama: hey, my daughter is currently in OT for sensory issues - mostly clothing, as well. We have started focusing on other things because ... sometimes I just give up and just buy the same dress she will wear, in 5 colors.

Our plan is doing OT every 2 weeks (we can't afford every week at full price - HSA plan). We speak with the therapist then she takes our daughter back for some big motor skill workouts (like swinging and jumping) and then working on things that are hard for her like putting on a burlap sack or figuring out where her emotions are when she is upset about something. We have recently started working on "is this a little problem or a BIG problem? How should our reaction be if it is little? How about if it is big?"

One main thing that she suggested - "working it out." So, she suggested some type of exercise before getting dressed. Trampoline time, crab walking down the hall, swinging on the swings. Naturally we don't always have time for these so we'll resort to just body brushing if we don't have time for exercise. We bought two brushes off Amazon that we use for the body brushing. Sounds weird but she likes it. We are also helping her how to work her frustration out in other ways.

It's been so important for us to know what we can do at home instead of her just having a season and leaving everything there. We have "homework" but it's good. It helps us learn how to help her.

DD is almost 5 and just had her first OT appointment for sensory issues, mainly revolving around clothes. I liked the OT but didn't really get a sense for what the overall plan and prognosis are. For those of you who have done OT for similar issues, what kind of progress did you see? How long did it take to see progress? What were the OT sessions like? And was there anything YOU were able to do at home that helped?

Thanks!
