Mine was TV to check placement. I am with everyone else on the it doesn't matter. You might be more sensitive, but they will be able to do what they need to.

The only time I had one done it was an abdominal scan. I'm another vote for "they won't bat an eye" - my OB actually prefers to insert IUDs while you're having your period and schedules insertions while you're bleeding, so I can't imagine they would be too grossed out  (even though it makes me squicky)

I think they are probably totally used to it. Especially if its the beginning and therefore lighter.

I got my period once the day before my annual and called to check. They said to come in anyways - the Dr didnt even bat an eye at it...

I had both during my scan. I'm sure they're fine with doing a scan during your period. Medical professionals don't tend to care about that stuff.

Can you just call and ask the protocol? I'm with you, I'd feel icky about it, but I've had TV ultrasounds for unexplained bleeding in pregnancy, so it certainly can be done (and probably is done more than we realize). The only reason that GYNs usually ask you not to schedule appointments during your period is hormonal changes (like I believe you shouldn't have a PAP during your period)....it's not just about ick factor :)

I'm not sure but it's probably something they deal with. I was bleeding quite a bit tiring a TV one because of MC. I think they are used to it!

Was it a transvaginal or over the abdomen one? I have one scheduled today and my period came early. It's really difficult to get an appt but..gross. Not sure what the etiquette is here, or is it something the techs deal with more than we think?
