My throat was so sore I could barely swallow anything. I got in to see my doctor on the third day and got a prescription for Tamiflu (the antiviral). I started to feel better after 3 doses. The thing with that med is that you have to start with 3 days of symptoms. Maybe you could still take it since you just got a fever? It helped me a ton. FWIW, I got the flu really early this year so DH hadn't even been vaccinated, and this year's vaccine wasn't even available at LO's 15 month appointment so she hadn't been vaccinated since last year. Neither of them got sick! Usually it hits me like a truck. But this year, one day I just felt really tired and slightly sick, like a cold was coming on. So I stayed home all day and slept a lot. The next day I felt better but rested up, and the following day, I felt fine in the morning, went out to run a bunch of errands, and then when we got home I started to feel really nauseous. An hour or so later, I had the chills, 104 fever, numbness in my legs, achy joints, the works. It was HORRIBLE! Yesterday my back starting aching and by the time I got home I ached all over so bad that my skin actually hurt. I feel like I have a fever but 3 different thermometers tell me I'm 98.4 (no wonder I'm freezing!) and I kept waking up feeling dehydrated last night. I have a slight sore throat and a headache too. But on the contrary I have an almost 6 month old and 2.5 year old that both wake up at all hours of the night so I know I'm not getting any sleep and I wonder if it's catching up with me. </p> <p>How did the flu start for you? I always thought it was sudden onset, this has been strung out over 4 days. </p>
