Just find a listing with plenty of reviews &amp; make sure you're comfortable with your correspondence with the owner/manager. </p> <p>We used VRBO to book a rental for our honeymoon. It was seriously amazing. We rented a house on Great Exuma in the Bahamas. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, private pool, private white sand beach -- only $1000 for seven days! The owners lived next door &amp; were wonderful. They helped us arrange a car rental for the week &amp; gave us advice on food and shopping. I'd do it again and again. There was a small problem when we got there (I forget what) - the owner of the house came out immediately and it was taken care of in no time. I guess there was an insect infestation so they bombed the place with chemicals. We got there late at night and it was absolutely horrible but we had no other options so we spent the night (only five or six hours) alternating who was awake to watch the other one breathing. Called the owner first thing in the am and got all of our money refunded.
