@Mrs.Someone: I sincerely want you to get your sticky baby... In whatever way works! I suspect that most people who were on Levo but not feeling great still aren't on a high enough dose.

Sounds like you are being proactive and involved, and that's what is really important!

@Mrs. Jacks: My ND did mention that it is harder to regulate the dosage, but she was OK with me being on it. She does check all the Ts to make sure everything is in order. Plus, I'm a crunchy Seattleite so it sounded like a better natural option to me ;) I was on Levo before and wasn't thrilled, but my dosage might not have been right (and my former OB didn't monitor it as well).

Not freaked out at all! Love having our resident doctor around here, thank you for caring :)

@Mrs.Someone: there is a lot of debate about it., with very natural people on the side of Armour and traditional western medicine practitioners feeling very strongly about levothyroxine.

You already understand the crux of the issue. It's not enough to just measure TSH and say "you are good". It really requires checking fT4 and T3 to make sure you are in good control. So if all your thyroid hormones are in good balance, you should feel just as good on Levo as Armour.

The drawback of Armour is that they can't measure it as exactly... So variations in he product could lead to variations in your levels.

I don't take a strong position, but I'd make sure that your ND and RE are on the same page with the decision.

Hope that helps and doesn't freak you out! I'm just thinking that eliminating variablity might be good for you :)

@Mrs. Jacks: I asked for it actually. I read a blog post from parkerhaus about it that made a lot of sense. My naturopath was OK with it, and she added in the selenium for overall function. My TSH level did go up to 2.1 at my first pregnant blood test, but she said it was fine. I can ask her about it at my next appointment if you think its a bad idea to be on?

@Mrs.Someone: Is there a reason they picked Armour thyroid for you? It is so much harder to titrate into the narrow therapeutic range needed, especially with pregnancy. I would think that they would want you more tightly regulated than that in your situation?

We are in the prepping phase to TTC and my doc ensured that I was on a multi vitamin, an extra folic acid so that I have the required amount and vitamin d ( good old winters Canada)
For those of you that are a vegetarian what extra do you take? I have recently been diagnosed with a gluten intolerance and a milk sensitivity. and other misc. allergies so have cut out a lot of food. So we are trying to adjust my eating so that I am getting enough before we TTC.

Not IF, but take a lot of supplements, mostly for TTC/pregnancy, so thought I could throw in my 2 cents.

Prenatals- duh

Cod Liver Oil (DHA)

Folic Acid

Magnesium/Calcium- both good for baby, magnesium keeps my digestive tract regular

Juice Plus- supposed to help with overall nutrition, and semi-anecdotally help with pregnancy

Thinking about adding some others that my cousin (who is seeing a naturopath for infertility) mentioned, if we wind up taking a while.

Oy, I've got a huge list:

Prenatals-vitafusion gummies(they have dha in them)
Folic acid-to help with a history of birth defects in the family
Magnesium-to help with PMS
Fiber-to manage my IBS

Adding in B-complex and baby aspirin this weekend(@Mrs Someone: you'll be glad to hear that! ) I was on Metformin for a while, but it didn't seem to do much, so I'm off now. I was on vitamin c for a while, too, but it made me sick, so no more!

I've just been taking prenatals. I did start taking maca, only for like a month and then I stopped that and started taking Femaprin at the start of last cycle. I don't know if it's actually doing anything, but this cycle I o'ed on day 30, as opposed to like 75, the last 2 of my 3 cycles so I'm gonna keep trying that.

My Dr. put me on a ton of supplements when I first started trying and then added a few along the way. I take way too many pills each day:

Pre-Natal - Vitafusion gummies
DHA
Fish Oil
Vitamin D3 - I was low when tested. My DR put me on 2,000 IUs a day but my RE has upped it to 5,000.
baby asprin every other day - it was originally once a day but I was bruise easily and they started to get worse than normal so we changed this.
Folgard - this is a prescription complex B with folic acid.
Metformin - I don't have PCOS but the Dr says that this helps with egg quality.

The RE has added that I need to take chlorophyll or wheat grass every day.

I think that's it.

@pui: Definitely a good move to get it all checked. I've read that Hashi's contributes to like 90% of hypothyroidism. Also, I saw something a while ago that said TSH isn't a very good indicator of thyroid functionality. Overall though, I recommend seeing an ND for these sort of things, they seem more well versed in supplements. And I think you should move on to a different doc since he thinks its OK that you still have no AF :P

@Mrs.Someone: I have not had Free T3 or free T4 checked yet. For my diagnosis my doctor only checked TSH. I will be getting my TSH and the T's checked in a couple of weeks though. I'm also getting my antibodies checked to see if I have Hashi's.

@pui: Here is a good article about it. I think my ND put me on it because of the Hashimoto's specifically, and because my T3 levels weren't as good. I don't really know a whole lot about selenium though (I'm on 200mcg/day). Have you had T3 checked? Also, I'm on a natural form of thyroid meds because it also helps T3, whereas synthyroid doesn't. But I asked for it because I heard good things, my ND doesn't normally prescribe it.

I've got quite the list too... Most isn't specifically for fertility, but it helps:

Rainbow Light Prenatal (plant based, no explanation needed!)

DHA/Omega 3 (because I was told its good for health and fertility)

5-MTHF (active folic acid, I have MTHFR, so this is instead of regular folic acid)

Probiotic (because my digestive system hates me)

Selenium (for thyroid function)

D3 (because I was tested a while ago and came back pretty low)

Armour thyroid (prescription, for thyroid issues)

Bump! I'm interested to know what some other bees are taking.

I was taking a prenatal and Omega 3, but I lost motivation around CD65 to temp, abstain from drinking and take vitamins. I should probably start up again.
