@lavender: not really - they have an awesome 3d planner tool online - as long as you get the dimensions of your room spot on, it's literally just dragging and dropping cabinets into place. If it poses a problem (too close for the door to open, etc) it will warn you.

Then when you're done, you just log in at the store and they can print out an order list to give to the warehouse so you're not searching for every little hinge, etc. We rented a U-Haul, but I learned later that it would have only been $100 for delivery.

Here's our whole kitchen in boxes at the store (six carts)

Do you have to rent a truck and get them from Ikea to your house or will they deliver them?

@Shutterbug: was it a pain to have to do the dimensions and design yourself?

@abbydabbydoodlebug: gorgeous! that's the hardware we used too :)

Another thing - there are tons of cabinet options/sizes, and some great functional interiors. We have a tall cabinet with 5 pull out drawers inside, and two corner cabinets with swing out shelves like this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00116741/

We have Ikea cabinets and we love them! Good friends of ours have the butcher block counters, and they look great.

Love the soft-close feature.

My brother redid his kitchen with ikea cabinets and I love them! They look and feel expensive, have the soft close and they got a bunch of installed drawers in them. He is planning on using Ikea cabinets for a new house they just bought too.

We recently renovated our kitchen using Ikea cabinets. So far they're very sturdy (they have a 25 yr warranty). Here's a picture of it sort of in-progress (missing the hardware and a bunch of trim pieces). We installed it all ourselves, it wasn't that hard, actually.

So we close on our new home at the end of June and the kitchen is going to be totally renovated. I was looking at Ikea's selection of cabinets and butcher block countertops. Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with either or?
