We have that exact dresser (the Malm?) in my daughter's room, and used as a changing table up until she potty trained last month. it's held up great, and she can now open/close drawers easily to get herself dressed. Very happy we purchased this dresser. Also, I'm 5'3" and could change her on there, no problem.

@lamariniere: Very good to know! Thanks!

@mrs. wagon: Yes! Very important! I had one that had some cheap board for the back. It drove me bonkers.

FWIW, I've had a dresser from IKEA for about 13 years and have moved it at least 3 or 4 times and it's still holding up great. So it is possible!

The only thing I would suggest is to check out the bottoms of the drawers. I have one that has cardboard instead of solid wood, and obviously after a year or so of holding clothes or blankets the bottoms of the drawers have warped. But mine is really really cheap!

We have the one in the picture and have had it for 2 years and use it as a changing table. I find that the quality is good for ikea. It has also been moved once and held up after the move (unlike our ikea wardrobe).

We are planning to purchase that same one for the nursery. I have had an IKEA dresser for 3 years now in our bedroom and it's held up just great! We got the raw unfinished ones and I treated them myself with Danish oil & put new knobs on. Love!

We have the Hermes that doubles as a changing table. It's great but other ikea dressers we have are crap. Do lots of research! Hopefully that's a good one.

@JessKas: @Kimberlybee: Thank you! I'll have to make a trip or two to Ikea I guess! I just find it so overwhelming. lol

@shopaholic: I have an expresso version of this and it has held up well going on 4 years now. We are not rough with it and use it for clothing and have a Flat screen TV on top, so it will probably last us for a while since it is still in great condition.

I thought it might be too tall at first but got used to it. And I'm only 5'4. I looked at the one you posted as well and I think that would make a good changing table.

They feel a lot sturdier than other ones dressers I've had in the past!

Ooh! Thanks @JessKas:! The tall (4 drawer) one? That's okay height for changing table too? I was thinking this one with a changing pad on top might work.

We have the tall version, which I use as a changing table in the nursery. I love it and it's held up well in the past 18 months. It's the mandal series.

Does anyone have this dresser from Ikea? Know what it's called and attest to the quality? I've heard very mixed reviews of Ikea dressers and had a terrible one myself in the past.
