My friend has one for her daughter and loves it. But you can only use the Ikea mattress with it. She buys normal twin sized sheets and just tucks the excess under the mattress.

We have the Ikea bed you posted a link of. On the shortest position, the only mattress that will work is from Ikea. DH was extremely hesitant of getting an Ikea mattress since its not as thick as a traditional mattress. Lo doesn't seem to care. Link below of the mattress we bought.

@bpcmarj: I think it's going to be too wide for a crib mattress. They're sized more of a twin width. Standard crib mattress is 51.625" x 27.25" (generic mattress on Walmart) and the minimum dimension on that bed is 50 x 38.

@locavore_mama: Here is one option, though there are many extendable ones.

@bpcmarj: can you link to the bed you're thinking about? I was there last week and we walked through the toddler furniture.

I don't have it but I was in IKEA this past weekend looking at their reversible bed. I looked at the extendable bed and I thought it was really cute but I did notice that the mattress was quite square. I don't think a crib mattress would fit, but I didn't take measurements. I remember thinking that we would have to buy a special mattress for it.

Does anyone have any of the extendable toddler bed frames from Ikea? Would a crib mattress work with in while it is in the shortest position or would it be too slim? I am trying to decide between converting our crib to toddler bed (which I don't love as an option because of the way that it converts) or buying a bedframe from Ikea. I am having a hard time being able to tell what type of mattress they use online and Ikea is an our away!
