When LO first transitioned into her own room around 5 weeks old, we left it on all night long because of frequent diaper changes, feelings, etc and we needed to see what we were doing. We still use it daily during her bedtime routine, and during times that we don't want the big overhead light (like the occasional overnight diaper change). We have it mounted above the changing table, and LO likes to look at it.
