DS has a twin mattress from ikea. I've napped in it with him and find it pretty comfortable.

@Charm54: I didn’t even think of the height, thank you! That threw a wrench in my plans so I figured since I copied your Disney trip I might as well also copy your kids’ room, and ordered that one.

@LCTBQE: It sounds like we might have bought the same mattress. I remember ours was the second most expensive also.

We have the midrange one in a double bed for our guest room/will be our son’s big kid bed in about a month. I think it’s very comfortable (it’s firm!) BUT- it does slope down on the sides and at the bottom, which bothers my husband but shouldn’t be a problem for a short toddler in a bed with bumpers.

We have the mid range one for our son and after falling asleep on it accidentally, we bought a Queen for ourselves! It was like $500 and we really like it. Ours has a foam top layer but isn’t a pillow top...pillow tops drive me crazy as they compress and create sunken spots. We bought a super expensive pillow top at a regular mattress place and after 5 years it started to be super uncomfortable. We’ve had the ikea for like 6-8 months and I would definitely buy another one for us or DS. And it comes rolled up so we just popped it in the trunk and let it expand for a couple days before use.

We bought whatever the recommended foam mattress was for the hemnes daybed, using two of them stacked (since it also has a trundle). To me it’s not comfy but my kids are fine with it. We added a memory foam topper off amazon but I kind of wish we had just gotten a real mattress to start.

following for future kid-mattress reference.

@Iced Tea: way back in 2011 I got a Queen of their second-most expensive, super plush mattresses, too, and I LOVED it. It had a memory foam topper layer built in and it was so comfy and supportive, also now discontinued. only complaint was that mine really crapped out and lost its supportive-ness after maybe 4 years, but for $550 or whatever, I guess it's not a terrible deal.

We got the kura to use as bunk beds and got mattresses off Amazon for a reasonable price. They are super comfy, I could definitely sleep there with no issues if I had to. The top mattress can only be a certain thickness which is something to keep in mind too

ETA: these are the two we got
Bottom bunk: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00MWTJG98/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Top bunk: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00NX8GH4E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The cheapest one is not good. But I feel that from mid-range up is good quality. They are known for being firmer than average, however (except the cheapest), so keep that in mind.

My children sleep on our old Queen mattress from Ikea. It was one of their most plush and expensive models (it's discontinued now), and it's the most comfortable mattress in our house for sure. More comfortable than our Casper or Tuft and Needle. I was really sad when I couldn't just buy the king version for our new, bigger bed. So there is hope at ikea!

My son is 4.5 and growing out of his toddler bed, so we’re going to go out tomorrow and buy a bigger one (we’re getting the Ikea Kura, because we’re gluttons for punishment and it seems like an excellent idea to install a four foot high platform in my parkour-baby’s room). Does anybody have experience with Ikea mattresses? They seem reasonably priced but are they comfortable?
