Surpringly things are going really well in the schedule department. I like being in a 2 hour earlier time zone. LO is awake for dinner time gatherings and the grandparents are up and willing to babysit when LO wakes (6am here, 4 am at home).

We try really, really hard not to mess with LO's schedule, but its always hard around the holidays :/ I absolutely do not mess with her nap, especially because she is on just 1 nap now. She is always flexible as far as bedtime goes- she loves being around people and is the life of the party, haha, but I KNOW she is tired and needs her sleep! I am happy we are hosting Christmas tomorrow because then I can put LO to bed when I want!

I'm so worried about the next 5 days or so. We're at my mom's tonight, DH's aunt's tomorrow night, then driving 5+ hours to my dad's until Monday. Kiddo naps well...but only in her swing right now. So I'm pretty sure naps will be hell for the next week...and bedtime, too. Yikes.

@sslm: I wish we could keep her schedule a little more but we are going to mil's friends places for different things in the evening. If it was my family it would be easier, or if we were at home. Truly everyone is doing what they can to help but the poor thing is still all out of sorts.

She did sleep for a 6.5 hour stretch last night though! Then backto sleep until 8. Today daytime we are keeping on top of her naps until Christmas Eve mass at least.

@scg00387: I was just about to say, am I the only jerk who makes everyone bend to our schedule??

Everyone is adapting so we aren't really messing with LO's schedule. We are incredibly lucky.

I hear ya! I'm totally stressing with the holiday schedule. I don't like messing with her sleep! She's also meeting lots of new people and I can tell she's overwhelmed.

I am sucking it up. We had a 6 hour flight across 6 time zones. The first 5 days were all mixed up, but we're on a reasonable amount of sleep now. Luckily we aren't the only ones with kids ( makes it easier when someone else set the precedent) but I a, not looking forward to the trip back home for another 5 days of adjustments.

@Revel: @grizz: when we swaddle weaned and transitioned to the crib it was almost easier since she was sleeping so horribly- couldn't get worse and eventually she will sleep out of the swaddle and in the crib, so may as well so it now.

Well we are back at our rental house, nursing poor baby to sleep. We did get to eat dinner while mil held we, then Dh, c, and I headed out while everyone else stayed. She did so great considering everything but I'm tired! And she actually did great with people she just met holding her. I'm hoping she sleeps and naps better tomorrow.

@MamaMoose: they made you wake the baby?! Who does that? The only time I'd ever wake her is if we had to leave to go somewhere- they could have just waited!!

These poor kids. Holidays are supposed to be fun!

@MamaMoose: ugh that sounds totally sh*tty (can I swear on HB??)

@Foodnerd81: If I were you.. I'd totally go home! That sounds awful.

We are the jerks who don't really mess with LO's schedule. Tonight my Mom yelled at me for not sitting down to eat dinner with everyone else at 5 when Lo normally eats his dinner at 545 and would not have hungry that early. Sorry, I'm not sorry. Friends want to see us/LO, it has to be around his nap. I will only have empathy for any future friends with kids and accommodate them once ours is older!

I just pretty much lectured my husband on the fact that I'm sick of messing with her sleep and for the rest of this week we aren't doing it. If that means we aren't the last ones to leave somewhere or the first to show up so be it. Our flight was delayed last night so we had to cancel dinner with my in laws. Tonight my parents were kind enough to host them all for dinner so they could see the baby. They showed up 30 minutes early, forced us to wake her from her nap, and then way overstayed their welcome past bedtime. I've now spent over and hour trying to get an overtired little one to sleep. And she won't go to anyone but me so she and I are the only ones who suffer. To say I'm pissed would be a massive understatement.

Ugh not looking forward this either. Especially since lo is recovering from a bad cold and cough. Had a massive fight with dh over this as he wanted us to go visit and spend the night with his family on Christmas Eve, and then all day Christmas day, AND THEN get on an overnight flight from Heathrow to NJ. I flatly refused. Kid's 4 months old, only now recovering from this rotten cold, and then going to have to deal with jetlag and all. Apparently I am evil and selfish for wanting to minimise the upheaval for her.

Count me in! I'm dreading the next two nights. We have a party tomorrow night that starts at 7 ( she usually goes to bed at 730) followed by dinner at my parents around 830. I plan to have her take a late nap around 5??!! Then Christmas night we drive and hour and half to my cousins house for late dinner and we usually drive home around 11pm, so we'll put her down, wake her up, put her in the car, wake her up again and put her to bed. Should be awesome. I'm trying to be in the moment since it's her first Christmas but I'm dreading a tired baby!!

I'm worried about messing with R's sleep for the next two nights. We will probably just bug out of the festivities early tomorrow night. If she was older I'd say she could just go with the flow but I don't want to mess up her sleep now.

Not even Christmas Eve and the poor thing doesn't know what's going on. People are being accommodating but between a long late flight, and a time change, and now a "casual" dinner party, I just feel so bad for my tired baby. Currently nursing in the guest room at 8 (10 pm at home) while everyone eats dinner. Fun.

Everyone is being lovely and accommodating but what I really want is to be lame and go home and all go to bed. Still have another late night tomorrow and then Christmas.

Enough bag humbug from me. How's everyone else dealing with the holiday schedule upheaval?
