hahaha oh no!!

yes we did... multiple times. We were only given one set of house keys to our current place, and so we always had to think ahead to who would be coming home first. It happened many times we didn't think ahead or one of us thought we had the keys and didn't.

Once I was babysitting like 10 blocks away, so hubs took the car to work and I was going to walk home... pregnant (probably 17 weeks I think??). As soon as I got home I realized that I didn't have the keys. I had to call DH at work... but he was busy so he couldn't come home for an hour... oops!!

Another time, more recently, the battery on our garage door opener broke and so we were closing the door manually... as soon as I closed it DH says... "So, how are we going to get back in?"
The keys were on the kitchen table.

I had to call our property manager and thankfully he had a little extra time to swing by and unlock the place.

We try to be more careful about it.

Yup..we left our only set of keys to the house at our friend's place. Upon landing, we texted her to say we got in ok and found out we left the keys there. Had to call a locksmith at 11:30pm on a sunday night and i was getting super nauseous from hunger pain (i was 8 wks pregnant at the time). We then installed a lock that can be open with keys or a combination number pad.

Yes! But we have a keypad outside our garage door so we can open it from the outside in case that happens.... And it has saved me quite a few times.

I am the worst at remembering keys! It was fine when we lived in a high rise across the street from DH's office because there was always someone to let me in, but as soon as we moved to a house an hour away we got keypad locks! This has been such a lifesaver! I just have to punch in a code and never have to carry keys.

Yes, did that once when I lived in a condo. Luckily I had security call a locksmith for me and $50 later I was back in my place. They stuck a long stick that opened the door from the outside. Hope you got back in real fast!

Ah, I used to do that all the time! But I haven't in ages (searching for some wood to knock on.....)

I used to always lock my keys in my car, too, when I was in high school. Never fun!

@ Mrbee When I first moved to NYC from rural upstate, where we leave our car keys in ignition while going to the grocery store, I could NOT get used to having to remember my keys and locked myself out at least once a week! Once, I did it three times in ONE day!! Thank goodness our apt had a fire escape so I could buzz our neighbors and crawl up that way but yeeesh! I actually just walked out of the house on Fri without my keys and my husband had already left for work! Luckily our neighbors were home and hubby had left the apt door open for me for this exact reason!

Once I thought I locked myself out of my parents house so I went to all the neighbors who have keys, but my parents just changed the locks so they either didn't give the new key out yet or the neighbor wasn't home. So I sat outside very, very pregnant in the summer heat until my parents got back, which took a long time because nobody would answer their phone. Turned out I wasn't locked out, just wasn't turning my key far enough. I suck at opening doors.

Glad you got back in!

yep! did it for the very first time earlier this summer. i was about to bring our laundry down to the common laundry room, and went to grab my keys as our front door swung closed. no keys.

i couldn't even do the laundry because i needed my keys to get into the laundry room too. instead, i left the laundry in the hallway and took a walk in the nearby park until my husband returned home. not a fun day.

Charlie was jet lagged and awake, so I strollered him to sleep outside. Alas, I realized after I closes the door that my house keys are in the luggage, oops!

Mrs Bee will let me in once Olive is asleep (I hope). Man I feel dumb.

Ever lock yourself out of your own place?
