Same. I'm not forcing it or putting a time constraint in potty training, but this sucks. She's been in big girl underpants since 9, and hasn't peed once. We've run and sat on the potty 5 times but nothing yet.

She's asked for a diaper change so I'm guessing that means she's gotta pee & plans to do it in her diaper..

So going diaperless is supposed to fulfill a few functions; make it more desirable to use the potty rather than the floor, have kids make a connection between "needing to go" and peeing/pooping, and cue parents in to the kid's bathroom cues. Sounds like you don't really need any of those things, anyway. So a better starting place for you might be to just talk, talk, talk about how nice it is to use the potty, and how everyone learns how to do it, and she is growing so big and can do it, too. If she's receptive, she'll start trying, if not, just wait. Some kids are "ready" before they are ready, know what I mean? She might be "ready" and just not mentally be there yet, which is fine, too. In my experience, pushing (not encouragement, but actual pressure) makes everything go more slowly. It sounds like she's making great strides already!

@Mrs. Twine: That's a good idea. I may try that. Right now she tells us while she's doing something or right after she's done. And then she tells us "change diaper." This kid.

Another thing you could consider would be getting some cloth trainers. We waited to do bare bottom until AFTER the girls had figured out the basics and were already consistently using the potty a good deal of the time. With cloth trainers you can still feel immediately when something "happens" but the mess is contained. For just at home we do no pants, trainers, and a shirt.

@hellobeeboston: @mrsjazz: falling damages the ego enough, but to slip on some kid's sh**?

I will be following your journey in the future though because our plan when the time comes if to do the 3-day house lock-down thing too. I've heard good things (usually  )

@PermaStudent: Yes, haha. I don't know why poop seems even more gross when it's not in a diaper or on the toilet. And cleaning out the potty is gross.

@hellobeeboston: Slipping on poop: something other parents never warned me about!

Oh no! Agree on the mimosa! And i, too, slipped and fell on some poop on the floor this week, didn't think many others would have a fall due to poop (ha)! I have a huge bruise on my knee.

That is a rough start to your day! I will admit, I haven't had to do the potty training thing yet myself, but I can imagine that this is fairly accurate:

Today was supposed to be day 1. I figured since we had a 3-day weekend it would be perfect. I've already thrown in the towel after I slipped and almost fell on a combination of a poop and pee surprise. I put a diaper back on her and gave up after the first attempt at letting her run around naked from the bottom.

And it's too early for a drink.
