6 months was our hardest sleep stretch, he went from being a great sleeper to a really rough sleeper within weeks. He also got two teeth during that time period and has started scooching around all over the place (semi-crawling). We're sleep training now (at about 6.5 months), and it is also rough. You can't win!

My 6 month old is doing the same thing. It's been going on for 2 weeks maybe? This week is actually better. I say growth spurt/wonder week/milestone, but that's what I blame everything on since she has no teeth remotely close to popping through! It sucks she is too distracted to sleep with us now. I rely on the car for a nap before daycare and even leave the house earlier and drove around so she gets a decent nap in first. Hang in there! It will get better.

@Danizaur: C's sleep also goes to crap when she is working on a milestone. It sucks. She's teething and working so hard on walking right now. I hope T goes back to normal soon!!

Oh god, I have no advice but my almost-5 month old has started throwing us a 10:30-11 pm wakeup which is killing me. He's also working on sitting up, so maybe that's the thing. I guess we could be having a sleep regression, but I'm really hoping it's skill-related.

He had crazy bad sleep when he started rolling over, so fingers crossed this passes quickly for both of us. It is a struggle.

We had a really tough time with sleep at 6m and that's when we decided to sleep train. We didn't plan it out, but his sleep had been getting worse and worse, and then one night DH did the usual routine, put him in bed, and a half hour later DS was awake and crying. I wanted to wait it out a few minutes, and then it turned it us just letting him CIO. I knew that he was fed, had a clean diaper, no teething and just upset he was awake.

We ended up sticking with CIO and his sleep went from awful, to 99% of the time sleeping 11+ hours with no wakeups. In our case I knew he just needed to learn how to connect his sleep cycles. And no matter what gentle methods I tried, nothing except sleep training helped him learn that.

We had a hard time with sleep around 6 months -- she had just started rolling over consistently and went straight into pushing up on her knees and rocking. Fortunately, she was usually fine in the MOTN but bedtime was horrible. It was like she was compelled to practice her new skills and even when she wanted to sleep, she just couldn't stop. It would get a little better and then get worse again...now that she's mastered crawling, she is moving straight into wanting to stand, but fortunately that doesn't seem to be as rough on her (and us).

@sotofamilia: @Danizaur: agree with this, multiple OTs have told us their brains are too active when they're trying to figure big gross motor stuff out. Hopefully this doesn't last too long!

@Grace: This is the third night in a row!

@ScarletBegonia: I was thinking this too. Very possible.

@Charm54: I can power through if I know it'll end soon. I hope so!!

@sotofamilia: OMG yes!! He's working on sitting up. He started sitting tripod over the weekend and he's almost mastered it and is starting to balance a little more unassisted. Wow! I didn't make that connection.

@Danizaur: is he sitting up or mobile at all? I'm a big believer that babies have regressions when they're about to make a leap forward, so maybe he's working on a skill.

My 18-month recently stopped sleeping, and I'm pretty sure it's because he's about to start talking more. I feel like their little brains are so active when they have these regressions, they literally can't go to sleep. Hopefully this passes quickly and he starts sleeping again!

6 months was when we had a very difficult time with sleep. We seemed to miss the 4mo regression, but at 6 , suddenly my STTN baby was up at 3am every night screaming with no intentions of going back to sleep.

Luckily it was short lived....maybe 2-3 weeks? Then life went back to normal.

Hugs mama!

I don't have any specific advice but my son who is 5 1/2 months has recently stopped wanting to be rocked (screams bloody murder until i put him down, then fusses himself to sleep in usually less than 5 minutes) and no longer falls asleep while nursing. We never co-slept so I don't know if its the same thing really, but maybe he's ready for independence and would do better in his crib? Not at all knocking co-sleeping - do what works for you! But if it isn't working anymore maybe try him on his own & see if it is any better?

Yikes, that sounds rough! How long has it been happening? There is a growth spurt at 6 mo, but you aren't supposed to notice so much because they are getting solids. I think there's also a mini sleep regression at 6 mo/

I don't know what happened! T normally goes to bed around 6:30pm or 7pm with no fuss. May wake up around 1 or 2, maybe not. But for sure 4 and then 6:30. Easy peasy. He sleeps in his crib in his room until his first wake up, then DH places him in our bed with me for the rest of the night and he goes to the couch. would always just nurse him back to sleep side lying and we would both drift off.

NOW he wakes up at 10:30pm. I nurse him but lately he hasn't been nursing to sleep. So I kind of cradle him on my side and we snuggle. He goes to sleep with no fuss and he kind of squiggles in about 30 mins or so and I lay him on his belly next to me. Then he sleeps until 4. Then all hell breaks loose. He'll nurse and act so so tired. He won't go back to sleep. Screams whenever I hold him or try anything else. I managed to get him back to sleep this time by doing a little CIO and patting his back. He woke up 45 mins later and same thing. But now he won't lay down. He's so tired but is fighting it so hard. I finally gave up and I'm letting him play with a toy while I get ready for work.

We're both not getting good sleep. I hate taking him to daycare having been awake for 3+ hours. I don't know what happened!

ETA. He's 6 months. So I'm not expecting a sleep regression. No fever. Not teething. Still smiley and happy during the day. Growth spurt?
