DS is 15m and sometimes we do one nap, sometimes we do two. At daycare he's in a toddler room where they all nap at the same time, around 12. At home if he's up early we do two naps, if he's up after 8:30 or so, we do one.

@BabyTsMom: I actually hate one nap. When we were on 2 naps he'd nap from about 9-11 and 2-3:30. So we'd go out and do stuff and then either be back by 2 for the 2nd nap, or we'd do a car nap and he'd be fine. But now the one nap is smack in the middle of the day. We try to go out and do stuff in the mornings, but if we're driving any later than 11:30 he falls asleep and it's hit or miss as to whether he'll sleep once we get home. So a couple times we've gotten screwed with a 20 minute nap.

Agreed - sounds like you're on your way to 1 nap a day!
Enjoy the long stretches of daytime sleep!

That's about when we dropped to one nap, although he was fighting every nap as well. I got a glorious 2.5-3 hour nap for about a month or two, and then I really had to start limiting it to preserve night sleep. Now I can't let him nap more than 1 hour (but he's over 2 now).

During the transition, he wasn't quite ready to go straight to one nap, so we usually alternated 1-nap and 2-nap days, which worked well until he was ready to make the leap. As long as your LO isn't miserable when you push them a little longer, and you like the one-nap schedule, that's a definite possibility. Or you can keep forcing the 2 naps--it is a bit on the young side to switch (I think most kids switch between 12 and 18 months). I think at this point you can do what works best for you and LO will adapt.

sounds like he might be transitioning to one nap! My LO is only 9 mo so I'm obviously no expert but I've readthat the transition from two to one can take a while, so that catnap is fine! But eventually you'll have to stretch that wake time even more so that he'll no longer need the catnap.
Personally, I can't wait till mine goes down to one nap, primarily so we can get out of the house more and so he/I can get a good chunk of time to rest (him)/take care of stuff (me!).

My 11 month old was on the 2-3-4 schedule and seemed to do well with it. He definitely seemed tired 2 hrs after waking. I had to do something's with my stepdaughter over the past few days and was not able to be at home with him at naptime (he never sleeps while on the go). For those days, I put him to nap as soon as we got home, usually either 3 or 4 hrs after waking, and wonder of wonders, he went to sleep quickly and stated asleep long!!! He usually naps for 1 hr or less but those days he slept for 2 or 2.5 hrs or even a bit longer than that (which is more sleep than he got for a whole day in the past). On a couple of those days he took a cat nap (30 mins) in the afternoon, but on others he didn't sleep again.

Do I keep this up? Or go back to 2-3-4? Do I try to transition to 1 midday nap? He stills shows tired signs after two hrs if he's not really engaged with something or with an activity. Is he better off with 2 short naps or 1 long one? What do you suggest?
