If the snoring has suddenly gotten worse, I'd see if he should get checked for sleep apnea. My dad has it and uses the oxygen mask that some PPs have already mentioned. It can actually be a pretty dangerous condition, so I think it could be a good idea to look into it. Two questions that could help determine if he might have it: Is he overweight at all? (I believe apnea is more common in overweight people--my dad didn't develop it until he gained weight) And is it steady snoring or does it come in bursts?

I kick him :p And if that doesn't work, I kick harder. LOL. I need to get him some of those breathe right strips...but DH is all oohh they'll make me look stupid! Yeah, and he'd look even stupider when I've covered him in bruises trying to wake him up :p

I used to have to wake Wagon Sr. up several times a night to tell him to roll onto his side!! ughhhhh. But we just tried Breathe Right strips for the first time and they work pretty well!! Sometimes he doesn't get it on right and the snoring still comes thru, but on good nights it changes from snoring to really loud breathing-- still annoying, but at least if I'm already asleep I can sleep thru it!!!

I probably nudge DH to roll over onto his side like 10 times a night. Recently, he gets all pissed off in his sleep like me telling him to roll over so he'll breath better and not wake the baby is such a huge issue. The other night, in his sleep and not remembering in the morning, he said "you don't have to treat me like a dog" probably because I said "roll over" a hundred times!

I'm currently on the couch thanks to hubs' snoring so I feel your pain! He will usually roll over to his side when I wake him up and tell him he's snoring. And I can usually fall back to sleep before he starts again. But I'm 38 weeks pregnant and sick with an ear infection so I'm probably not getting back to sleep no matter what!

fantasizing about suffocating him with a pillow ... i mean, uh, um.

Basically i get to stay up all night (especially after I get up to nurse LittleBebe) and hope like hell the kid lets me take a couple naps the next day. Or I catch a snooze on the couch (but obviously not tonight, seeing as it is 1am & I'm on here).
Oh and FYI: I do not recommend my method.

My DH snores SUPER loud too. When we first got together I could barely share a bed with him, then moved to earplugs and then finally realized it went away if he slept on his right side. If he starts snoring in the middle of the night I just wake him up and tell him he's snoring and he knows to roll on his side.

@MrsTiz: The machine I think you're talking about is a CPAP for sleep apnea.

My DH snores sooo loudly. What's weird is that he stopped snoring loudly for the past 5 months since LO was born. Now that she's about to be 7 months his snoring is back. It's so loud. I don't like to sleep with earplugs they feel weird so I suffer.

My brother's best friend & his wife have slept in separate rooms for almost their entire marriage! 18 years ish and they are cool with it. He has tried the strips, surgery, machines you name it and it hasn't worked. They both get the sleep they need and make up for the lost intimacy later.

DH says I snore pretty bad, even worse now that I have gained weight and I believe it. My old room mates use to come upstairs and throw shoes at me to get me to stop.

My husband started snoring REALLY BAD about a year ago, out of nowhere. Apparently he developed sleep apnea. So now he has a (whisper quiet) machine and it's a non-issue now. When he's sick and can't use his machine, I have to resort to earplugs or a guest bedroom.
