I did alot of just laying still with my eyes close for 10-15 minutes when I had DS....

I learned to get refreshed & feel better without actually sleeping! I can still do that today & it really is such a great thing!

Otherwise see if DH or grandma can take baby for a few hours so you can get a nap nap

I also can't nap, but its because I'm a heavy sleeper so I'm paranoid I won't wake up to lo's cries. It gets much better when they start sleeping through the night!

@Clementine: Do you ever watch TV or use your computer late in the evening or when you can't sleep? That can have a huge impact on your ability to sleep!

I'm a horrible napper too... I had to learn when I was a SAHM. A few things I did:
stay in pajamas until midday and don't shower (staying in "bedtime" mode)
room darkening shades in your room
as SOON as the baby is down, lay down in your room. if you are watching the baby fall asleep on the monitor, put it at an angle where you can lay there and watch and close your eyes as soon as you're sure the baby is asleep
keep the temp in your room cool and use cuddly blankets

it'll get better as the baby gets older and sleeps for longer stretches of time. good luck!!

I just had a baby a month ago, so I'm super sleep deprived like every new mom, but I can't seem to nap.

I've always been a horrible napper/sleeper because I'm such a light sleeper and just overall can't turn my mind off to begin with, but now I have DH I'm so tired esp since I'm not sleeping through the night.

Most people say sleep when the baby naps, but again that doesn't work for me.

I'm so tired. Any tips for getting a light sleeper/bad napper to nap when the baby naps?
