@T-Mom: I don't know, but my imaginary friend was a little boy, too... DD tells me that Sasa is her little brother, lol. Apparently she doesn't like the current boy in that position? :)

@Honeybee: That's very cute about your DD's friend Sasa! And... why do you think the little girls have imaginary friends who are boys? I thought that was very curious about my DD...

I had soooooo many imaginary friends! and so did my sister - she outgrew them by about age 6 and I think that was the same with me. I actually always thought it was normal until DH expressed that he thought they were creepy. weird.

I was 3 when I had my imaginary friend. His name was Wilsom (?!) and he lived in the tree in our backyard. I used to walk around with my arm around him. :)

@T-Mom: DD's imaginary friend's name is "Sasa" (which sounds suspiciously like her real life BFF's name) and when we ask about him, she'll describe what he looks like. She also tells us stories about things he does, and when she gets upset at us, she tells him about it. It's both funny and really interesting tohear about this whole little person she made up!

DD has an imaginary friend named "Dylan". I'm not sure how imaginary he is exactly, but she talks about someone named Dylan once in a while, and I am postive she doesn't have any school friends with that name and we don't watch any TV that has a Dylan character! She won't say much about him.. it's kind of weird but I'm just going to see what happens.

I had an imaginary friend called Esmeralda! She was a witch! I had such a vivid imagination when I was a child, I pretty much lived in a make-believe world. The little girl who lived next to me didn't come off so well from it though - she was a couple of years younger than me and 100% believed that I had an invisible witch friend. She started having nightmares and sleepwalking, looking for "Esmeralda". Her parents had to take her to a psychologist in the end and it all came out that I had told her about my imaginary friend. Oops!

@Honeybee: Well, I'm not sure when they started (They are step-kids and we get them every other weekend). However, the eldest is 8 and I just heard him talking about some imaginary friends, and the youngest is 5 and obviously picked up the idea from the elder. However, I don't think 3 is really too young for it. She obviously just has a big imagination!!

I have to admit, the concept of imaginary friends scare/creep me out. I tend to think kids are more open to seeing "spirits" so when I hear about children having imaginary friends I wonder if they're seeing spirits.

Does anyone else's LO have an imaginary friend? DD started telling us about her imaginary friend in the last few weeks/month, and it kinda surprised me. I thought she was too young for this! (She'll be 3 in a month and a half.)
