Forgot to write - yes, everyone was right! Just weird bleeding. Still not sure why, but normal AF started later that week.

Anyway, sort of a relief! Would have been tough to answer that kid's questions about "how was I made" without seriously grossing him out. :) We're going for it the normal way this month...!

@anandam: Getting pregnant without actual penetration is extremely, extremely rare.

Keep us posted!

@LindsayInNY: Not exactly what I meant, but I appreciate the cheekiness. I'm referring to the theoretical possibility that sperm in pre-ejaculate fluid can encounter cervical mucus at the vaginal introitus, or even close by - like the anus - and (if there's enough of both) can swim its way right up to the cervix, just by external contact, without penetration.

The last actual vaginal penetration I had prior to the spotting was about 36-48hrs before (8dPO). I've never had post-coital bleeding before, and it was bright pink. By then I would expect brown if it were related to the intercourse. It also really seemed like endometrial blood, mixed with mucus the way my menstrual fluid usually is. Most likely cause, I think, is a temporary drop in my progesterone caused by who knows what. I haven't been tracking my BBT since 3dPO so can't say for sure about that.

No matter, I'll keep you all posted! Cramps and bleeding seem to be done for now. Normal menses would be expected tomorrow or Sunday. We'll see!

Not sure what "crap" you were told in health class... But it takes semen in your vagina to get pregnant. The fact that you had "brief anal" is totally irrelevant - you can't get pregnant though your butt. How recently did you have sex before the spotting occurred? Could that have caused it?

My implantation bleeding started 9DPO too. It sounded like you were pretty careful though, but anything is possible!

It is possible you did not O when you thought you did. Or you could just be having a weird cycle.

Since you were so careful, it's unlikely you're pregnant. Only a HPT will tell!

Well it's not a short luteal phase since it wasn't full flow, just spotting. I think it's really really really unlikely that you got pregnant com what you're describing. It would be like 1,000,000 to 1. It's possible, but so unlikely. It was probably just midcycle spotting. But if it was implantation bleeding it should show up as a positive on a test in a day or so, if not already.

I think since you were so careful about not getting his stuff near you, you may not be pregnant, however....anything is possible! I had my implantation spotting on day 9!

I've got a doozy for all of you to weigh in on, please!

My usual luteal phase is 13d, shortest ever was 11, longest 14.
I had earlier than usual cramping this month and yesterday I had some pink spotting on what was day 9 post-ovulation. At first I thought, "oh great, just when I'm getting geared up to TTC I develop short luteal phase?" But it was just once. No bleeding at all today. A little mild cramping. This is NOT a pattern I've ever had before. So now I'm thinking, implantation?

But get this - husband and I were expecting to start really TTC next month, have been very intentional about postponing pregnancy for over a year and were a little sloppy this month. Really, just a LITTLE. Aroused genital contact and brief anal penetration but no vaginal penetration and no nearby ejaculation (intentionally finished him off in the shower, directed away from me). That was two days pre-ovulation. We knew it was mildly risky and are open to pregnancy, definitely. But seriously...

What would you think? I know only time will tell, and I'm sort of assuming AF will start any minute now. But could it be? Was that crap they told us in health class true? Haha!
