Wish I had better story for you - I got pregnant at age 37 last fall while nursing my 12mo. I stopped BFing around 7 weeks, she was 13 mos, but that pregnancy ended in miscarriage when I had my first OB visit at 8.5 weeks and there was no heartbeat, fetus measured around 6 weeks +a couple days. I obviously don't know if it was related but I've wondered. The reason I stopped BFing was because of the increased risk of MC.

I've been nursing since 2012 and have had two pregnancies in that time, a successful birth in 2015 (age 32) and a miscarriage at seven weeks (age 34).

I got pregnant at the age of 35 while I was breastfeeding LO1 (who was probably around 23 months at the time). However, I did wean LO1 before LO2 was born.

I was 33 when I got pregnant with my second, but it only happened once we cut down to one nursing session per day. My daughter was 19 months at the time. But I'm 27 weeks pregnant now, and we still nurse once a day! I plan to wean in the next few months before baby is born.

I was 34 and nursing my then 16 month old DD when I got pregnant this time. I will be 35 a month before DS is born. No issues for me. I think it can be highly individual, as some women won't even ovulate if they are breastfeeding, and others have no issues. good luck!

I think there is something to this theory. I had no problem getting pregnant while breastfeeding at age 35. Staying pregnant was another story. I had four chemical pregnancies while nursing DS2 -- 2 were confirmed by bloodwork. My OB wasn't convinced that nursing was the issue, but I believe it was. The month after I stopped nursing I got and stayed pregnant (we lost the pregnancy much later due to fetal anomalies unrelated to nursing).

I started a thread way back when about nursing while pregnant and the experiences really varied. Some were able to do it throughout their entire pregnancy without any issues. Others had trouble getting pregnant. Others had problems staying pregnant.

I got pregnant twice while still breastfeeding (only once per day though) and lost both. I was 34/35. Finally weaned, got pregnant again, got put on progesterone supplements (first pregnancy trying that), and that one stuck. Not sure if it was the breastfeeding, the progesterone, or most likely just luck of the draw.

I got pregnant at 32 when I was still nursing my 16mo son. I lost that pregnancy at 10w and then he weaned himself before I got pregnant again a few months later. Hopefully some other bees can chime in because I know there are a few who had to wean in order to get pregnant.

I am only 30 but I did get pregnant with my daughter while still nursing her sister (older daughter was 19 months and we nursed until I was 3 months pregnant with no issues. Only weaned because I didn't want to tandem nurse).

I'll be 39 in September. We've just started trying for our second. I'm still nursing my 27-month-old daughter. My cycles started in September and have been regular for the last 7 months. However, I read today that breastfeeding can impair the progesterone production which results in unsuccessful implantation, especially for older women. 😔 Anyone here who can tell me otherwise? Would love to hear about your experience.
