We do a heavy protein breakfast, so eggs, or more often turkey or chicken, cheese, veggie sausage.

Oh man my kid doesn't get much variety. He gets granola and yogurt or a waffle. If he starts getting bored with those I'll buy chex and give him chex and yogurt or muffins. But DH and I eat almost the same thing every morning too.

@irene: yeah, i actually was making those sweet potato pancakes for a while! Until he got sick of those too. Haha.
He's not a fan of eggs but I haven't tried an egg muffin. It's worth a shot. Thanks!
@MrsBeluga: I haven't tried this in a very long time. It's worth trying again!

Nothing fancy: cereal with whole milk, toast topped w/ peanut butter and fresh fruit, pancakes/waffles/french toast with sausage, scrambled eggs with sausage (or in breakfast sandwich form with cheese), or oatmeal with peanut butter & mixed berries. Most everyday with milk & fresh fruit.

On the weekends, I'll make a big batch of pancakes with whatever fruit we have hanging around getting over-ripe and then freeze the leftovers for quick defrost during the week.

My kids LOVE breakfast foods and would eat them all day/every day if I'd let them, though. If in a rut, maybe just try some left overs or other non-breakfast foods that he typically likes?

If we're out the door early, she eats at daycare. Otherwise, we're not wowing anyone in the breakfast department! Frozen waffle with PB, whole wheat toast with cream cheese, a pouch of fruit, cheese, an egg (if I have time to cook and cool it), yogurt....a combination of those things.

One weekend morning I thought I'd be super mom and make her pancakes. She didn't seem to care and hates to wait--once she's in her high chair, food better follow fast!

Almost always cereal - a mix of Rice Krispies and shreddies - usually with a side of Greek yogurt and some kind of berries. On weekends I sometimes make waffles or pancakes and I'll make extra to freeze and then we can just throw them in the toaster.

@BabyTsMom: Oooo.... thank you so much! I must try this - I love that it has zucchini in it!

Try sweet potato zucchini pancakes too. I got it right here from hellobee, have been batch making /freezing it for 3.5 years now (LO is 4.5 years old) and he still eats them. He doesn't eat sweet potato or zucchini as is but he gets both in his pancakes :) I must say he is getting tired of it a little but it is nice to have something healthy in rotation. With that I add an extra 3/4 cups of milk (play with it) so it thins the batter otherwise it was too thick to cook.

ETA: Oh the link! http://www.hellobee.com/2013/01/11/zucchini-sweet-potato-pancakes/
Also did you try making egg muffins? I know mine wouldn't eat it (well, I tried when he was 1.5 years old) but I heard you can make and freeze them too ahead of time. Also you can make 3-4 hard boiled eggs and keep them in the fridge and they are good for a few days. If your LO eats them you can just take one out from the fridge and warm them up in the morning.

Wow now I'm craving a chocolate zucchini muffin. Very nice breakfast treat!

We only feed LO breakfast on weekends since on weekdays she arrives at daycare by 7:15 and they give her breakfast then. But on weekends we give her Cheerios, whatever fresh fruit we have (grapes, cherries, pineapple, and oranges are huge hits), Greek yogurt, maybe a hard-boiled egg (she isn't a fan of scrambled but hard-boiled seems to be a superior choice). Sometimes we make pancakes. And a sippy cup of cow milk.

@BabyTsMom: http://brendid.com/healthy-oatmeal-muffins-no-flour-no-sugar-no-oil/

I just blend everything in a blender (following the order the recipe provide) because it was impossible to try to hand mash the bananas till there was no crumbs. I bought oat flour from whole foods instead of blending / making my own and I skipped the "toasting of the oats" (step 1) to make it simple. I add raisins, walnuts, and top each muffin with a few chocolate chips (chocolate chip is completely optional, but it got DS so excited). I made a batch with blueberries in it and he wouldn't even touch them, even though he eats blueberries raw as is. I use mini muffin tin instead of a regular muffin tin and I still bake them the same amount of time (20 minutes) and they turn out great and taste very good. I took them out at 15-18 minutes before and they were not really done in the middle, but try and play with it. 40-48 mini muffins, so you can bake with 2 muffin tins (24 each) and be done in one go :)

Just try not to gobble them all down before you freeze them, hahaha! They are really good.

I want to hear about your chocolate/zucchini muffins! Did you make them or buy them from stores? recipe please? :)

DD usually eats one of the following: yogurt + fruit, homemade healthy muffin+ fruit+ protein (sausage/ egg/ cheese), peanut butter toast + fruit, bagel with cream cheese + fruit. I also occasionally switch out the fruit for avocado slices or a smoothie. I find that muffins and smoothies are a great way to add in whatever food groups DD isn't eating enough of at the moment. For smoothies, I will add squash, spinach, or avocado if she needs veggies or some yogurt and nut butter if she needs protein. I also make nut muffins with pumpkin or zucchini to sneak those food groups in there!

Most weekends we do oatmeal with different toppings (jam, honey, condensed milk, fruit). Sometimes I make an omelette with sausage, but then DS picks out all the sausage and leaves the rest, and DH complains because he likes oatmeal so much :silly: Or we do cereal if we're in a hurry.

A selection of the following items:

protein: scrambled or hard boiled eggs, peanut butter (spread on toast)
dairy: milk (must), cheese stick, yogurt stick
carbs: premade (frozen batch) sweet potato zucchini pancakes, pre-made (frozen batch) banana nut raisin mini muffins, store bought french toast sticks, store bought waffles, cereal, toast
fruit: banana (usually, his choice), grapes, watermelon / catalope, blueberries....anything in the fridge.

So this morning he had half an egg and cheese sandwich and 1/2 banana with milk. Last friday was cereal+scrambled egg + 1/2 banana + milk. Earlier last week was 2 to 3 mini banana nut raisin mini muffins i made over the weekend (now in freezer), egg and 1/2 banana and milk.

When we are really in rush, I just put out cereal and banana and milk. No prep necessary :D

Breakfast is so much fun, he usually finishes his food... versus lunch and dinner it is always a long long battle and long long wait.
