@atoz: I can totally relate. I'm just not good with people coming to stay over, even my mom drives me nuts after a few days. MIL came to stay for a week and it felt like a month! Its just hard to get them to fully understand and accept your parenting ways. I try to limit DD from eating too many sweets but MIL would skip meals and just eat desserts right in front of DD during meal time so then DD wouldnt want to eat her food either!

Oh man, I can sympathize. Last summer we had my MIL, FIL, 2 brothers (23 and 19), and both their girlfriends for two weeks, and I was 8 weeks pregnant. It was a nightmare. Could you start being more up-front about your time - like, at noon say "ok, we're planning to leave at one, did you want to shower or eat or anything before we go?" Or if she takes too long and it's nap time just not go do whatever you were planning?

I have a friend whose in-laws buy one way tickets and stay with them so it could be worse, but that probably doesn't make you feel any better.

My MIL is wonderful, and so supportive. But she's visiting for several weeks and holy cow that's a LONG TIME.

She hasn't spent much time in the States so I'm trying to show her around while also juggling a baby. DH is at work. She has really skewed nutritional understandings so she'll decline what I make for dinner but will then eat bacon (because she says it's white meat??)

We're trying to sleep train which has been tough to try and stick to a nap schedule because she has a totally different concept of time. We'll say we're leaving at 1, and then 1 rolls around and she'll say, "ok, let me go shower so we can leave" which unfortunately means we don't leave until an hour later.

I'm sure it's tough for her to be in her daughter in law's home and I really do love her, but man oh man this is feeling like a long trip!

Anyone else have inlaws visiting? Anyone else have loving inlaws that drive them bonkers?
