It's been amazing to see the tides change where before people had known that these things wore going on but had brushed it off because no one pursued charges to now the community is not standing for it. It's really important that the community comes together to support survivors and that just hasn't been the case before. I hope we can keep up this momentum and set a truly high bar for respect and equal voice for all. This is especially true for POC and LGBTQIA+ and others who's experiences are undervalued.</p> <p>Also, fuck that tax bill is terrifying and will wreck the little bit of humanity we have left in healthcare, higher ed, and other public assistance programs....</p> <p>And net neutrality is vital to the world as we know it.</p> <p>It's increasingly hard for me to look outside of my family bubble because the world I see is heart breaking when I think of what my children will be inheriting,. I don’t think that there is a scale of what is ‘worse’ each issue and complaint should be thoughtfully considered based on the situation.</p> <p>It is terrible that this behavior is ‘normal’ someone could be in jail for what they did to me. Raising a daughter in this world is daunting. When #metoo started, I first just felt extremely lucky (especially since my own university department has been a site of some truly horrifying accusations, so this has hit very close to home as well as occurring in national news), but then I started thinking more about my own experiences and the way we are just conditioned in a patriarchal society to accept unwanted attention, etc. </p> <p>@arosebyany: that's really disheartening that you aren't seeing the outrage. There is a lot of outrage on my fb and my social circle, but I have a very politically active network.</p> <p>I've also noticed a real drop in political talk on HB lately and wondered about it. Part of it is that I like many women and men are just conditioned to live with harassment, misguided jokes, and bad behavior. Some of the accounts really showcase what I would consider malicious intent and some is what I would consider microagressions. The account that resonated with me during this recknoning was Jenny Lumet’s encounter with Russel Simmons. </p> <p>There should be consequences for these men; however, the current trend of automatically losing your job seems unsustainable. There are just so many men who have wronged women and work (jobs) have to get done. I feel like Congress is dragging their feet because so much is at stake if their is a change in representation.</p> <p>After Weinstein and Halpern I asked DH if he ever harassed a woman at work. He claims no, but uses the legal definition of what that means. Who really knows if something he did or any of the men in our lives made a woman uncomfortable. WTF?! Seriously WTF?! Is it really that hard to treat a woman, another human being with mutual respect and dignity! Are men really only thier penis'? Do you fuckers even have a brain? Everyday when I turn on the news and see deuchebag after deuchebag apologizing for "misunderstanding" a woman or thier sooooo sorry for what they did, my blood pressure gets a little higher. I knew that we were a long way from true equality, but this has made it abundently clear that we are VERY far away. As a woman I'm literally just a fucking sex object and that hasn't changed ever! Now I'm just a sex object capable of making money. The worst part is I don't see the outrage anywhere, it's not on my Facebook feed, not on the news, I can literally hear George sigh every time someone new is accused. I just want to vent, Its so disheartening, the human race really is terrible :sad: </p>
