But they were often so I went to the hospital. But apparently they weren't bad enough to make me dilate even though they were 3-5 minutes apart. I didn't have back labor. Around 8cm dilated, I described them later to my husband as this: Imagine the uterus is a paper bag blown up like a balloon and tied at the end. It's perfect and smooth and round, and then a giant comes and crushes it in his huge hand, making it a tiny crumpled up ball, crushing steadily for a few minutes.
