He has been with us from the moment he was born. I held his birth mom’s hand as he made his entrance into the world.<br /> We complicated things when we moved to a different state last year. After over two years, our road to finalization appears to be getting close to the end. We found out today our son’s birth mom signed the affidavit to surrender her parental rights and the public notices for birth dad and legal dad have started running in his birth state! Next step, we will be headed to court where the judge decides the degree to which a home study is necessary, if at all. While we have considered ourselves his parents since the day he was born, it is highly likely we will be deemed his legal parents before the end of the year! </p>
