They had to give it to me in the hospital...the dr still had to manually fish the sack out of me, so I don't know that it was some amazing drug by any means....sorry you're in this situation :( I would probably opt for a DC, because the medication was really painful for me. A DC thins your lining more, because it involves manual scraping

I've taken Misoprostol twice (but multiple doses each time), first for a missed m/c, then for a blighted ovum (without bleeding). It doesn't work for me (finally had to have a D+C both times), but the side effects were not bad. Most importantly, you just want to make sure that the m/c is completed, otherwise there's a risk of prolonged bleeding and infection. Hope this helps! :goodluck:

I'm so sorry. I used misoprostol after a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks (baby only measured 6 weeks). I did not have any bleeding beforehand so I don't have experience with that part. Just FYI, it hurt quite a bit. Sort of like a lesser version of labor contractions. They prescribed a painkiller and at first I tried to get by without it and then I quickly changed my mind. For me, I think it went pretty quickly (maybe 6 or 8 hrs) although I know it can take quite a bit longer. From what I have read, I had a "good" experience with it, but I still found it somewhat traumatic.

I chose the misoprostol over the D&C because the OB said it was a little bit safer for the uterine lining. I'm not sure if that is true, but it convinced me. We were told to wait one full cycle before trying again. I got pregnant again two cycles later (so three months total).

Best of luck and hugs to you.

I'm so sorry. With my first m/c it was "natural" at 6 weeks. The heavy bleeding lasted for 4-5 days, I got checked for my hcg dropping once but had spotting for 2-3 weeks and then didn't get my period for another month.
With my 2nd, around 13 weeks I had 2 days of extreme pain and heavy bleeding/clots. I wemt in hoping that I had passed everything but unfortunately I had not and had a d/c. Bleeding stopped the next day, which was much better for my mental health than with the first mc.

I guess my point is my experience with the mc at 6 weeks it was kind of awful to have bleeding for so long, maybe it would've been better to get it over wifh the pill, although that was never offered to me

Lots of healing and  to you

I took a similar med after my d&c for retained tissue- didn't do anything after 2 doses. I was told to stop it and if I didn't bleed on my own to go in for a repeat d&c. I passed everything else a few days later. I was scared to death to take that pill

Hi all. Blighted ovum discovered around the 6th week, cramping and bleeding starting at 6w5d.

I *thought* my MC would be completely natural because I've been bleeding for 10 days, I passed significant tissue a week ago, my HCG is falling, and my bleeding is tapering off.

Sadly, my ultrasound yesterday showed a gestational sac still stubbornly stuck at 5w2d, and the obgyn wants me to take Misoprotol if it's still there next Friday. I am uneasy about this decision because of various experiences I've read, and I imagine it will delay our TTC process due to possible impacts on my uterine lining, etc. Then again, I don't want a D&C, either, for other various reasons.

Anyways, I not quite sure what I'm asking, but here goes:
- Anyone out there with experience with an incomplete miscarriage? How did you handle it? How did it go?
- Anyone out there with experience using misoprotol for a miscarriage? How did it go? When did you start TTC again, if so?
