@regberadaisy: At one point I had a recipe, but I started just throwing ingredients in the blender and it all worked out.

I can't find the exact recipe I used, but it was something like this:
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 banana (frozen)
- 1 Tbsp brewers yeast
- 1/3 cup oats
- 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1-2 Tbsp almond butter
- flax seeds

I would always use brewers yeast, oatmeal, flax seeds, and a banana. Sometimes I'd add yogurt, spinach, and fruit (but not use almond butter and cocoa). I was just trying to get lots of brewers yeast, oatmeal, and flax seeds.

@regberadaisy: sorry my last sentence got cut off. If you're up that often anyways what about co sleeping? Letting them nurse non stop overnight while you snooze is a great way to boost supply (aka increase demand to stimulate more supply). Not sure if you're comfortable sleeping together.

@Adira: no, I agree she probably doesn't need to eat every two hours overnight. It's hard to remember that in sleepy fog though!
I pumped last night while watching tv and got 1.5 oz! Woohoo!

@regberadaisy: That seems like it SHOULD be plenty. How long is she in daycare? Can you try stretching out how long she goes between eating at night to try to limit her MOTN wake-ups? Every 2 hours seems like a lot seems like it probably isn't necessary with how much she's eating during the day... Though obviously you know your baby best!

@Adira: she gets (4)3.5oz of BM.

@edelweiss: yeah most days it takes me total 30 minutes for set up and breakdown to get my first letdown. So I really can't go any longer. It's a small office so being gone 30m 3x a day is a lot!

Hopefully power pumping at night as trying to pump after the morning feed helps.

i did 2 things that seemed to help: adding a pumping session right before i go to bed and lengthening my pumping sessions. after the first letdown, i would continue pumping until the second letdown. sometimes this meant at least 10 minutes of pumping in between letdowns with no milk coming out. it's definitely a time commitment though which i know isn't easy at work.

@regberadaisy: How big are her bottles for daycare? Does she seem like she's actually drinking a lot overnight or do you think she's maybe just waking out of habit at this point? Either way, I'm AMAZED that you're still functioning on so little sleep for so long! Kudos to you!! <3

@snowjewelz: @psw27: @Adira: @Mrs. High Heels: @MapleMoose: thanks, I'll try power pumping before bed!

@Adira: @brownie: we increased because she was waking up so much at night so I thought maybe she needed more during the day? We asked her teachers and they said although she isn't screaming for more she does keep sucking after the bottle is done. So they suggested adding 1/2 ounce to each bottle. She takes it no problem at daycare but it has not help the overnight sleep!

@kiddosc: 1) I don't know! My body is used to it because her older sister slept like crap till about 1 also?!? But in all seriousness she was great the first two weeks then it went to all hell and got worse around the 4m. I sleep trained and it was great for about 2 weeks. Then she got sick and it got bad again. She's only at daycare 3 days a week and her sleep is no better the days she's home with me. I know my supply is fine when not pumping because I offer and she won't take it and I still leak. She is very distracted when nursing now so I offer more often than she looks for it to make sure she's eating enough.

@T.H.O.U.: I'm short about 2-3 ounces depending on the day. But I'm already only getting like 1.5hr stretches of sleep...waaahhh hahaha

@psw27: hm I can't do that on work days because she usually has a wake up between 530-6am and 6 is when I need to wake for the day. But on the days I'm home I can certainly have DH take her and pump afterwards.

@Bluebonnet: do you have a lactation smoothie recipe?

And I think wagon posted a lactation cookie recipe - I'll check it out!

Congrats on 6 months!

I pump right when I get up in the morning and before LO gets up for the day. I get a ton of milk in that first session (more that I pump the rest of the day combined...) and LO doesn't seem to be unsatisfied even if he nurses an hour or so later.

Brewer's yeast - in smoothies, on oatmeal, etc
Increase your protein

@kiddosc: has some really good thoughts on reverse cycling and comfort nursing.

Why did the bottles increase? Formula fed babies need more oz for more calories but typically breastfed babies don't because the calorie count in the milk changes.

My best pumping time was the first feeding in the morning (and my son reverse cycled so he nursed all night long). I nursed him on one side and pumped the other and would get as much in that one pump as I would all day. Then I switched him and the pump (just for more feedback).

Yes, squeeze in extra pumping or nursing sessions when you can in the evening or at weekends.

Also, an EBF baby waking every 2 hrs at 6mo is not unusual, especially if she's away from her mama most of the day and needs to reconnect via nursing (comfort or feeding) at night.

She wakes up every two hours at night? Are you feeding her each time?
1) Holy Cow, how are you functional on such little sleep for 6 months?
2) If she's actually eating, and not just comfort nursing at night, it sounds like she's already not getting enough during the day (reverse cycling) and you may want to increase her bottles more
3) If she's just comfort nursing, have you considered some sleep training?

All that being said, The only thing that ever worked for me was power pumping. And I added in pumping sessions after he went to bed and on the weekends to make up the deficit from what I couldn't pump during the work week.

Out of curiosity, why did you increase her bottles for daycare?

Power pumping is a good way to increase your supply. I used to do it for an hour before bed every day. You could also try pumping after feeds in the morning/evening/weekends to have extra for the week.

You made it to 6 months tho, yaaay!

It sucks b/c there really isn't time to add in pumping sessions.. Does she get a longer stretch at all? Her 1st stretch is still just 2 hrs?

Can you possibly pump longer at work to get another let down?

I get the most milk from my 1st pump so I stay as long as I can to get as much milk knowing that the next 2 pumps I barely get enough.

I was told avocado is good for milk supply too?

DD2's daycare bottles were recently increased which means I'm not always pumping enough for her anymore.
Besides drinking water, eating oatmeal and taking MMP pills, what else can I do? I already pump 3x while at work. She wakes up every 2 hours overnight so I don't see where I can add a pump session.
She's 6m and we just started solids. But from my experience that won't decrease her milk intake because I want her primary source of nutrition to be breastmilk till she's one.

I'll like to exhaust my options before going to supplementing. I'm obviously not opposed since dd 1 was supplemented for a year! ;)
